I feel so hungry!

I'm on day 3 of the pre-op fast.  I woke up this morning slightly shakey but drank my protein shake and felt better.  a couple hours later had a cup of broth.  Been sipping on water and at 1/2 way mark with that.

What does "head hunger"  feel like?  How do you know if it's head hunger or real hunger?

Can you have fruit or yogurt on your diet? I was able to and it did wonders for me as a snack. Good luck!

No.  I just broke out a SF popcicle.  lol.  I'm due for another shake in about 45 minutes.  I just don't remember feeling this hungary close to a shake time the last two days.  I need to find a project to do and keep me busy!  maybe start a box for Goodwill.

How are you doing?

It's probably real hunger during the pre-op diet. It's hard, but you're doing this to shrink your liver so your surgery will be more safe. Just drink your broth and white knuckle it. Eat some sugar free Jell-O if you're allowed. It saved me during the pre-op diet!

yep I can have SF jello.  I'll get there....just need to stay busy.  made a list of little projects/organizing around the house for me to do before surgery gets here.  11 more days!!

Head hunger is when you start thinking about foods that sound "good" usually junk food. If you can be satisfied with broth and jello and things on your plan, that is true hunger. Head hunger is when you start " looking" for things that sound good.

You are hungry.  I was able to eat pickles, cauliflower, brocolli, cukes, sf jello.  You can do this, the first 3 days are the toughest.

Good luck with your surgery.

My hunger never went away after surgery.  It was the worst when I was on liquids/purees/mushies.  Once I could started eating solid food, I was able to manage it better.  I do and feel the best if I eat small, protein heavy, meals every 3-4 hours.  Here is my day so far, for example: 5am, breakfast of morningstar farm breakfast sausage and 2 slices bake; 7am, snack, large skim latte; 11am, lunch, 3 ounces shrimp, 5 baby carrots.  at 3pm I am going to have a plum and cheese stick.  If I work out, I will have .5 a quest bar before and .5 after.  I will have dinner around 6, and if I'm starving, a snack at 9.

For me, the difference between head and regular hunger, is that I can physically feel it.  It starts by the tummy rumbling, but if I ignore it too long I can get shaky, light headed, and really grumpy.  I don't physically feel head hunger.
