Help! 3 months post-op with embarassing gurgling noises when I eat!!

I'm so embarrassed.  As soon as I start eating, my stomach starts making gas noises.  I can't burp, so instead I make these gurgling noises that bubble up in my throat.  Since my VSG, the gurgles are uncontrollable and sometimes kind of loud.  When I'm at lunch with some co-workers it can be very embarrassing and uncomfortable because it is hard to stifle the noise!!  Has anyone experienced this?  Will it go away in time?  

And yes, you read that right....I have never been able to burp my whole life, not sure why.

From my experience, yes it is normal. The noises do becomes less, with the passage of time and healing of your sleeve. Try to be humorous about it.  Just say, " my stomach is noisy today."

my hubby would laugh at me..  then recite this:

"i sat next the duchess at tea

it was not how i thought it would be

her rumblings abdominal

were something phenomenal

and everyone thought it was me!"

Great poem!!  I am 4 months out and have the same gurgling sounds. I used to be able to burp, but don't anymore. I wish I could because it might help ease the gas pains too. I too hope that it gets better with time.

No help. I'm a gurgler, too. I can burp, but post op I mostly gurgle. I just joke about it.

I have loads of gurgling too lol. Not back to work yet though so I am the only one hearing it. No pain associated with it so I can live with it if it means being healthier :)

I don't have the throat gurgle, but boy does my tummy get chatty sometimes in the evening.  I was lying in bed the other night laughing at how much noise it was making.  Im single and have just started dating again (finally happy enough with myself to put myself out there again) and all I could think was "well that's going to be attractive if I ever have someone lying next to me!!!" 

I'm new to this forum and recently had my VSG on March 8, 2013.  I too, have these noises that are plum embarrassing.  Glad to know they are normal.  I love the poem though and may have to use that from time to time.  Good luck everyone! 

How funny is this - I just got back to work this week and today while eating my lunch at my desk, the stomach gurgling noises started. I understand how you feel!
