If your'e using a powdered protein shake and use water to mix it does the water count towards you water intake?

I don't think it would. Pure water is better.

Surgeons have different guidelines for this. In my plan, water in your shake did not count towards your water goal.

Starting weight: 260; Surgery Weight: 250; Month 1: -15.6; Month 2: -11.8; Month 3: -11.4;  Month 4: -7.4  Month 5: -8.6; Month 6: -3; Month 7 -3.8; Month 8 -7; Month 9: stall; Month 10: -4.4; Month 11: - 2.6; Month 12:-3.4

I will be sure to ask next week when I'm there.  Thank you all for answering.

It does not according to my doc. For instance, my pre-op is 4-5 protein shakes (I mix with water) a day AND 64 ounces of clear liquid. So I'm really getting over 100 oz of liquid and yes....you do pee a lot.

I do count all water consumed in a day no matter if it is in shakes, tea, soup or just plain. I also try for 2 litres (just about 70 oz) of just plain water a day as well. That is 4 of those small water bottles or snapple size bottles. But when counting, I add up the whole lot.

According to my surgeon, yes...I'm allowed to count my shakes if made with water.  But it seems every dr is different so best to ask yours.
