3 months post surgery and doing great
The scale cooperated this morning, dropping another two pounds. Today I am 3 months post surgery and down 110 pounds from my highest weight, down 60 pounds post surgery.
I am so happy with my sleeve and grateful that we live in a time when WLS is available and relatively safe and effective. I started my Weight loss Journey at 383 pounds. I was looking at diminishing mobility, diminishing quality of life, and I had to do something. I was totally disillusioned with dieting - so many yo yo diets. I felt so hopeless.
In January I attended a WLS information meeting, called to schedule my evaluation the next morning, and never looked back. I decided if I was doing something as drastic as removing most of my stomach, I better be committed. I started my pre-op diet the day I left the initial eval and I haven't strayed since. I am terrified that if I stray, I'll defeat myself again, and I never want to go back to where I was.
The amazing thing is that I am no longer driven to eat. Eating is a chore now like brushing my teeth or taking my vitamins. I do it to keep myself healthy. It is wonderful to be released from this drive to eat that has dominated my life for decades.
If you are considering weight loss surgery, I highly recommend it. It is not easy. It takes a lot of commitment and effort, but it is so worth-while.
best wishes on your journey.

Thanks! I need to get moving on SOMETHING; I feel like this whole thing isn't actually "real" to me yet. Like, sure I know about it, hypothetically, but like I'm just going through the motions.
Thanks for the story! So inspiring.
Hi, Sorry for the confusion. My program wanted us eating what they called the post surgery diet - three meals a day, preferably no snacks, or at least healthy snacks. A meal was to eat first 3 to 4 oz of protein, then all the low-carb veggies I could eat, plus a max of 1/2 cup high-carb veggies/starches. I chose to eat only the meat and low-carb veggies because i knew carbs are a trigger for my cravings.
It was good to find out that I could sustain myself on this type of diet. Plus I lost about 18 pounds a month on it. I look forward to being able to eat that much food again! right now my tummy only holds about 3 ounces!
Good luck with your weight loss journey.
