I had the tube, it was removed the day I was discharged from the hospital. I was very, very nervous about it being removed and thought it would be painful. As it turns out, my drain was only a few inches long and it didn't hurt to have it removed, although I will say it did feel strange.

My surgery is 12/17.  I had my last nurse visit yesterday.  She said that I will have a drain and it will be in until my 1 week appointment.  I'm not very excited about it!

I am 9 days post op.  A drain was placed and I was discharged home with it.  The main reason why my M.D. Uses them is to determine bleeding and or infection.  He said its much more easier to monitor vs if I had not had one.  The drain is annoying more than anything.  Mine was removed yesterday (happy happy joy joy) not painful just a weird sensation.
