Does everyone that has vsg surgery go home with a drain tube?

Nope.  Mine was pulled (OUCH) the day I left the hospital, which was the day after my surgery.

No, I did not.  Huge selling point too, as I was not into that idea.  But I have PS coming up, and I am going to just have to get over the idea :(

Take a deep breath and consider that puppy your best friend- it's there to take away all that lymphatic fluid that would otherwise build up inside of you.  I thought it would be horrible, but it was not nearly as creepy as I imagined.  Taken out yesterday- YAY!!!

  goal!!! August 20, 2013   age: 59  High weight: 345 (June, 2011)  Consult weight: 293 (June, 2012)  Pre-Op: 253 (Nov., 2012) Surgery weight: 235 (Dec. 12, 2012) Current weight: 145

 TOTAL POUNDS LOST- 200 (110 pounds lost before surgery, 90 pounds lost Post Op.diabetes in remission-blood pressure normal-cholesterol and triglyceride levels normal!  BMI from 55.6  supermorbidly obese to 23.6  normal!!!!

I didn't have a drain tube, and have no idea what its use is?

It is a safeguard against a potential leak.  If there is a leak, it will drain off the crap that will kill you.  Surgery = swelling and fluids, and the drain helps with that.

I had one that was removed when I went home , did not enjoy its removal

it is used for a number of things , they can tell if you are bleeding inside , if there is an infection, some surgeons put a dye in your sleeve and if the drain comes out blue they know there is a leak , other things also
