Pizza alternatives
What do you use as a substitute for pizza post op? It's my all time favorite and has been eating over every day of the month multiple times. I tried a cauliflower crust once, but it (or my cooking) needs practice.
For Mom's day about 20 relatives are getting together for the day and ordering pizza so no one has to cook/clean. Not sure what to do. Last weeks family BBQ was horrible as I downed a shake (pre-op liquid diet phase - surgery 5/20). I think I might spontaneously combust if I have to watch everyone eat pizza and all I can do is sniff.
So far, nothing. But pre-op at one point I had pizza-type toppings on top of a chicken breast. That was really tasty.
Maybe you could make something really tasty to take that isn't an attempt at a pizza substitute instead?
(I'm confused, though. Won't you still be in liquid diet phase?)

Yes - pre op - and no pizza for me for me on Mom's day (or quite a while after that). Looking for options to fill that craving with a similar flavor palate down the road...
Aaah! I was confused since I thought you wanted something for this weekend!
I'd go for the chicken option :) also, if you're a pepperoni lover, you can nuke turkey pepperoni briefly and turn it into crispy chips!

Hang tough! It's hard - but if you take one bite, you'll end up with a slice, then think you blew it and have a second........ and then you will feel miserable. Maybe you should absent yourself when the pizza is delivered. Say you have to run to the store.....
You are so close to surgery - don't sabotage yourself. Good luck on the 20th!
As for a pizza alternative after surgery(about 3months out)..I have unearthed the most amazing low carb tortillas..called Mama Lupes low carb tortillas. For 1small tortilla..they are 60 cal..3net carbs and 5g of protein. I take one and use 1-2 tbsp tomato/pasta sauce..any type of veggie topping..can add turkey pepperoni if you like..and 30 g of low fat mozzarella or high protein cheese. Broil in the oven for 5min and the tortilla gets just the right amount of crispy. Like a very thin crust pizza. I find this satisfies my pizza cravings when I have them which is once in awhile.
As far as Sunday goes..try to stay on your pre op liquid plan if you can. I know it may be hard sniffing all that pizza..but try to stay strong. Good time to practice strategies and good habits now..especially with trigger foods. Drink your shakes..if you're allowed on your plan to have veggies..pack a baggie and keep them nearby. I know it's not pizza..I know easier said than done..but where there's a will there's a way:-)
Good luck!
First..... this is my opinion..... not asking anyone to agree, your going to do what your going to do.....
My opinion..... if your going to spontaneously combus****ching everyone eat pizza......maybe your not ready for this?
Don't let anyone or anything get in your way..... harsh, maybe...... doomed, that's up to you/us.
My message has always been..... "Lose the weight first" develop new healthy habits and than maintain a new sustainable lifestyle.
That said, I have some very satisfying versions of pizza that are within "my plan", is it within yours..... I don't know these days with all the wonky plans going around.
