Vsg and PCOS.

I was wondering if anyone on here had PCOS before VSG, how did it affect or help your PCOS? PCOS is really hard on me and naturally I'm worried about failure because of this demon condition.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any of my symptoms improve,  but I've been losing weight just fine.  Still hairy,  Still have cystic ovaries I'm sure. Still have acne lol.

This is something I've been wondering about too.  I also have PCOS and I'm sure it won't help the excess hair but I am wondering if it will help with my low libido...

My surgeon says my PCOS will be cured by VSG.  I'm pretty sure not.  Although he may just be referring to the insulin resistance part of PCOS.

PCOS and IR are never "cured", but the symptoms can lessen and improve. Kind of like a remission.   If you go back to old ways,  they will usually worsen.

My PCOS is Soooo much better. I do still suffer from the hair problem, but I think they grow not as fast now for some weird reason. My dark patches on my neck and underarms disappeared. I haven't had any more ovarian cysts or ovary pain. My periods were normal the first 6 months after surgery then I quit having periods and had to be put on birth control pills to regulate. Much better than the super strong stuff I had to use before!!

I have lost 151lbs so far. Going from 350lbs to 199lbs and still slowly losing. :)

I'm waiting to notice a difference as well. My body has always felt better on a low-carb diet with PCOS (insulin resistance). I have regular cycles, but do have some hair growth. No acne but I have extremely painful cramps 2 weeks+ out of the month that hasn't lessened yet. I recall this getting better the last time my weight got down to the 160s. We shall see.

I agree with the previous poster that it never goes away, but symptoms can improve.

I cannot believe that they have no treatment for us except hormones and spironolactone, none of which I can take with my blood clotting disorders. I am now seeking out acupuncture and Ayurvedic treatment.

I too have PCOS, I am scheduled for surgery on July 14th so I am anxious to see if there are any changes. My Dr.mentioned that the dark ppatches and hair growth would lessen but not completely go away, but was more confident in the fertility aspect of having VSG. I can deal with the hair and using facial creams. I am more concerned with having a baby!! Good luck to you all! :)
