better to have an extra "meal" to get in all my protein?

Hi! I am 1 month post-op, still on soft foods for 4 more days. My weight loss clinic recommends 3 meals and 2 snacks. When I eat ground beef or chicken I can usually only eat 1-2 oz. My snack of a cheese stick fills me up. So sometimes I am coming short on my protein amounts. I know on here everyone says "get in your protein!!!" So my question is, would it be better for me to end up having 3 meals and 3 snacks to get in more protein?

Thanks for your help!

I second the isopure recommendation.  I find that most of the flavors are too strong for me, so I often mix it with equal amounts water.  I can still drink a whole isopure throughout the day and get in a good amount of protein that way.  Or if you really only needed a little more protein you can make one bottle last a few days and just put a portion of it in your water bottle!

Hello MrsGillis333, Our bodies can only metabolize 20 grams of protein per meal, above that, it is a waste, the rest goes out in our urine,. Take your time. Take your vitamins! In "real Time" most humans eat more than necessary; 30 oz steak? Its over kill! We only need a piece of protein (chicken, beef, ham, etc) that fits in less than the square area of the palm of our hand. Try to balance what you eat. Protein in one meal? Veggies/salads in another meal. Fruit in another meal. It does not have to be all mixed together. Early on Protein shakes were my friend, jus****ch the sugar content.  That is what I did.

All the best, forge ahead!

Most people who make this claim say 30 grams of protein, this is the first I've heard 20.

Regardless, I have scoured the internet for scientific studies about this and can find lots disproving the statement that we can only absorb x grams of protein at a time and none that prove the statement true. So I've chalked this up to nutritional urban legend.
