I feel crappy...
I'm 8 days post op and I just feel crappy. I talked with the nurse at my clinic (which is 250 miles away) and she thought I wasn't getting enough protein or fluid. Yesterday I got 60 grams of protein and 56 oz of fluid, so that is sufficient according to my doc. But, I still feel kind of dizzy, my digestive system isn't right. I'm debating going to my PCP. Any thoughts?
You should be aiming for at least 64 ounces of fluids. More is better!

I'm almost a month post op (surgery 7/8) and i still feel tired and if i move too fast i do get a lil light headed...keep hydrated!! keep drinking your fluids..it will get better..if you fall behind on your fluids..you will need to get some IV to bring you up...my surgeon said..fluids are very important..i was on liquids for the first 2 weeks...it will take time to feel "normal" again..trust me.
Of course I can't say yay or nay to your pcp...but that's up to you..if you feel you need to by all means seek medical help! Hope you get better soon!
Not enough liquid, Sarah -- you need at least 64 oz. And that's just a starting point until the internal swelling goes down and you can drink more at one time. Eventually you will want to shoot for 80 oz. and if you exercise at least 100 oz. per day.
You're fine on the amount of protein at this point. In fact, you're doing well! Focus on the water.
I agree with the advice you're getting here. It's only been 8 days. I'm always surprised by people who say they feel great immediately post op. Getting in protein and drinking fluids should be your full time job. You WILL feel better. Unless you have symptoms that indicate a leak (and it doesn't sound like you do) your best friend is time.
I'm over 5 weeks post-op and still have bad days. They're fewer and fewer, but my body is still not 100%. It's totally normal that you're not going to feel great sometimes. Everyone's advice regarding fluid and protein is valid. Some women I've talked to said that it took 3-4 months before they really felt like themselves again. Don't push yourself and let your body heal!
