Frisco- Don't be Afraid to Cook !!!!

Eating clean is both "key" and "satisfying" to long term weight control.

Again, today I was faced with "stop and get something to eat" or make something when I get back.......

I scan the area I'm at..... Mexican, Deli, Chinese, Wendy's, KFC.... Yes, I could have done "OK" at anyone of those places (maintenance) I had to stop and think.... and decided to pick up a cabbage and do a quick stir-fry.

Don't be afraid to cook !!!! Our portions use only pennies of ingredients..... if you mess it up, no big loss, chuck it and try again or feed the dog !

Here is my 5 minute meal today !!!!

Diced pork, mushrooms, cabbage..... salt, pepper, granulated garlic, harissa, ponzu........ Delish and Clean !!!!

Plus cooking tastes so much better than an OK dish at a fast place.  I'll save the eating out for the nice & slow places w/ good friends.

Awesome! Did the same thing myself today. Had to fast for labs, so I didn't end up eating until close to 2:30 (don't ask...). Made a single egg scramble with 1.5 oz chicken and 1/2 oz cheddar. Top with NF Greek Yogurt and salsa. Way better than what I can get out.

What is harissa and ponzu?

Harissa is a chili and comes in a paste or dry ground shaker.

Ponzu is basically soy sauce and citrus, comes in either lemon or lime mix.

You can essentially get the same thing by squeezing lemon or lime into soy sauce.

Great pic Frisco. And you are so right. I think its absolutely essential for wls patients to learn to cook. my brother never learned to and when living as a young adult on his own he ate mainly take out food and gained a lot of weight.   I like to cook and that means I get to pick what we have to eat. Helps having a sleeved hubby who seems thrilled with whatever I make. But it doesn't look as pretty as Frisco's stuff.  diane

I'm still in AMERICA!!!

And what spices do you recommend! I don't think there is any Trader Joes here in Vegas.. But, I will still take a list. Sunday, I got a garlic and coffee rub in L.A. I should of messaged then.. But, that T.J. Didn't seem to have a huge selection!
