Waiting for the other shoe to drop
I haven't been on the boards for awhile, so I hope you haven't forgotten about me! I had my VSG last Monday, a week ago today. I did very well. I was up and walking within 2-1/2 hours, and took another walk before I settled in for the night. My surgeon was surprised that I was doing so well and agreed to send me home the next evening. So far, I've not had any pain, just a bit of soreness at times. No nausea either. I was able to sleep on both my sides the first night home. I've been off pain meds for two days now, except at night. Everything I eat tastes good, if not better. I don't seem to be lactose intolerant. My guts and bowel are working. My farts are just farts. No gas pains in the shoulders or anywhere. I just seem to have escaped a lot of negative experiences a lot of you made me aware of as possibilities. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop! I'm walking every day and have built up to 3/4 mile. I've met my fluid goal of 64 oz about half the time, which I think is good considering I'm only 7 days out. So, life is good, and I've updated my friends here on OH!
WOW.. that sounds great!!! I'm so glad you are having a positive post op!!
I go in Friday.. I can only hope my recovery is as smooth as yours.
PS: don't wait for something to come up and don't be a "negative nelly"... LOL just kidding!!
Good luck and wishing you the best!!
Jess
Good luck for Friday and beyond Jessica.

I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop for two years. And guess what...I now have a closet full of amazing shoes of all kinds. The only shoes that have dropped are the ones I've bought since losing weight and being able to wear normal shoes again! Don't borrow trouble from the future. Enjoy your easy ride! Some of us are lucky that way and thank our surgeons' skill and our resillient bodies for the quick bounce back. Now its our responsibility not to mess it all up!
Calaska, I am so happy you are recovering so well. I hope my surgery/recovery goes as smoothly. Keep it up

I think your experience is typical. Most people don't have any complications or problems. Those that do, tend to be very vocal about them. Folks like you usually aren't heard from.
Keep us posted. Follow your plan, and you'll do great.
