3 mos post op
I'm a little over 3 months out and it really varies. In the morning I can eat about 1-1.5oz and that's about all I feel like I can eat. As the day goes on I can eat between 2-3oz. I feel like everyday varies. Yesterday I had 2 pieces of bacon and 1 bite of egg beaters for breakfast. I had 1 meatball and 1 piece of cantaloupe for lunch and at snack time. Then for dinner I had another meatball and was full. Yesterday was the lightest eating day in months, but I just really wasn't hungry. I haven't measured anything in awhile, just eyeball measurements. My NUT doesn't really give a amount range to eat, but suggest to eat until I'm full, but not overly full. So far I'm down 75lbs, 55 or so since surgery May 13th, so things must be working okay for me.
I've been measuring 4oz since about 2 months.
Some days it goes down easy, some days I listen to my body/sleeve and only get in 2 oz. The dryer the food, the less I can eat. When moist and with sauce (ex ground turkey taco meat with s.cream, salsa, and guac - I can eat my 4oz of turkey plus condiments w/o restriction.
I'm trying to eat real food to get calories and protein and nutrients vs shakes and vitamins.
An example I try to do is okinos greek yogurt cup with 1/2 scoop protein 222 cal, 26 protein, 4oz deli turkey 100 cal 22 protein, 2 string cheese for a snack 140 cal 14 g protein, 4oz pot roast for dinner 303 cal 27 protein. As my capacity grows I'll be adding veggies - which add very few calories but do take up space so I try to eat meat first. I'll bring some bell pepper to eat with my turkey or cut up chicken meet in lettuce or substitute a banana for a string cheese, or slice a tomato with my post roast. Or make myself snack on a carrot or broccoli before bed.
