OMG. Just went to GNC to pick up clear liquid protein drink for first week after surgery. Only thing they had was Isopure so I just bought four 20 ounce bottles. I'm suppose to start taking the vitamins two weeks post op so I thought I'd pick them up. My plan says: Multivitamin with iron.2 adult Chewable or liquid. The girl gave me a sample and I almost threw up! My stomach is normal yet. I don't think they will stay down after surgery. Same with the B-12. It tasted badly.  They didn't have Calcium citrate w/vitamin D so I didn't try that. I'm scared. Don't think I can do those chewables. Still feel sick from the samples. Any suggestions?

You shouldn't be taking Calcium with iron, so I hope that's not what you mean!

Did you take them with food?  That really helps me.  If I take them on an empty stomach I don't have such good luck.

There are a variety of different brands out there that are complete and will work for us.  Experiment to find ones that will work for you.  The ASMBS recommends a chewable (or liquid) with 100% of most of the vitamins and minerals for the first 3-6 months and we can switch to regular pills afterward.

I was told that 2 Multivitamin with iron were for people who had the RNY. I'm required to take 1 complete multivitamin without iron. Here are some brands I was given (no gummies); Centrum Chewables (NOT Centrum Silver), One Source Complete, Equate Complete (Walmart brand) and Spectravite Chewable (CVS brand). Another suggestion, you can purchase free samples (you pay $3 postage only)from Celebrate Vitamins. These are very tasty and reach our requirement. They can only be purchased on line at http://www.celebratevitamins.com/shop/catalog/product/view/id/133/s/sample-pack/category/5/  Good luck. Christine

I take a chewable multivitamin from Trader Joe's that someone here suggested! I didn't like it at first, but now it's fine. I tried going back to big multivits to swallow and they made me SO nauseous even several months out. I did switch from chewable calcium to citracal petites. My B12 are tiny little sublinqual tabs that dissolve under your tongue. And my vit D is a gummy.

I bought chewables from bariatic advantage...multivitamin and iron one also. They aren't the best tasting but tolerable.  I like the B12 from trader Joes.  It is cherry and dissolves under the tongue ($6).  I also bought the sugar free chewable chocolate calcium at Costco.
