Sweeteners?

What option do you guys use for sweeteners? I hated coffee up until my surgery and now I live off of it (decaf), but it *has* to be sweetened a little. I usually use one packet of Truvia, but one packet has 3g of carbs! Stevia gives me severe heartburn. Just wondering what you guys use.

I use liquid stevia, or in the raw stevia. Its my favorite. sorry it gives you heart burn.  Is it a certain brand or just stevia period?

In the past I've used Stevia in the Raw...but I've noticed that artificial sweeteners create a lot of acid in my system (bye-bye sugar free popsicles!).  I finally connected the dots and figured out why I was needing to pop Tums 30-60 minutes after eating sugar-free stuff even though I take a routine PPI each day.

I think that may be part of my reflux problem too, Tracy...although I noticed it way more with Stevia. I've only tried Stevia in the raw. I'm wondering if the liquid kind would be the same. I might have to try that, I didn't even know it exists.

I use liquid sucralose aka splenda. You have to order it online but Amazon has it. I think the brand name is EZ Sweetz. The powdered sweeteners have carbs in the form of maltodextrin to make them powdery. Thankfully I've never had any issues with heartburn related to it.

Although I'm presurgery, I try to avoid caloric and non-caloric sweeteners of every kind. They're not good for you. Getting your "sweets" from fresh fruit is best, IMO.

Sdkitty, if your coffee sucks without sweetener, try buying a high-quality brand of coffee, which has just the right amount of bitterness and a full coffee flavor. If the coffee is good, you won't need a sweetener. If the cost bothers you, remember how much you're saving on the rest of your food bill.

I use monk fruit in the raw sweetener, I usually get the liquid form which has no carbs, but my store was out last time so I got the packets which have 1 carb per packet
