I am day 3 post op VSG & I am nausea's...I cannot stand how sweet everything is tasting which is making me more nausea's...hot tea is about the only thing I can stand right now, but it will not give me the protein I need.  I also really do not like the chicken broth...I swore I was not going to be one of those people who could not handle it, but I cannot throw up and I cannot get anything down...help!!!

I'm also 3 days postop and off and on nausea my surgeon sent me home on Zofran and it's been a lifesaver! Everything does taste sickening sweet, I was able to get in a bottle of Priemer vanilla shake in divided does, 4 oz broth, 4 oz jello, and a lot of water small sips at a time, I don't think I could have done it without the anti nausea meds! Good luck and call your Dr in the am!

At three days out I was not worried about protein. I concentrated in getting clear liquids specially water.

Sip, sip and walk as much as you can.  It will get better. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, I agree with this. My surgeon said to focus on the water the first few days. :-)

I felt the exact same way.  Tea was best.  Everyday gets a little easier and the nausea and gas will pass very soon!

What you need right now is fluids more than protein, so drink that hot tea until it's coming out of your ears (make it decaf so it doesn't impede healing).  You need 64oz of fluids in any way/shape/form the minute they remove the IV out of your arm.  Dehydration causes nausea and additional fatigue, so drink up.
