16 months update: overweight, finally, and training for a marathon! (Pics included)

My 16th month post-op was relatively eventful - I started losing again after a 3 month "stall" (oh, carbs...), I hit overweight BMI finally, I turned 33 years old, and I signed up for a marathon (in March)!

I posted a couple of weeks ago that I'd started losing again by cutting the carbs, upping protein, and being really mindful about (not) grazing.  For full disclosure, I did have a carb extravaganza on my birthday, but was able to get right back on track the next day. I've always been terrible about moderation and having an "eff-it" attitude once I did something off-plan, but I think I'm making progress in that regard and not beating myself up over occasional indulgence.

One of the most surprising aspects of post-op life is how much I have come to LOVE running.  I'm still pretty slow compared to most, but the steady progress I've seen in endurance and pace has been really rewarding and motivating. In October I'm running my first 15k and half marathon races, and then I jump straight into marathon training. :) (It's a bit ambitious, but I can change my race registration to a half if training doesn't progress as expected.) Figuring out nutrition - eating adequate calories to fuel 1-2.5 hours of running at a go but not so many as to stall my weight loss - has been tricky, but as a data nerd it's also kind of fun. (For the record, 1200 seems to be my current sweet spot.)

And, some pictures: (left was as a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding in 2013 - about 20 pounds less than my highest weight, I think)

Great Job!! It is good that you are back on track and learning new behaviors.  I really like that you included your calorie count.  I am new into the journey and was wondering how many calories I'll need if I am real active.   I use to have a net 1500 calories, but that is why I seldom lost enough weight.  Now that I am measuring my protein drinks by the ounce, 1200 seems like a feast when before I thought it was starvation.  Keep up the good work and finish the goal to your satisfaction.
