Hello VSGers and friends alike!

Today marks 5 months post-op for me! I have had some great NSVs along the way so far. Fitting into clothes I found in my closet that I haven't worn in years.. to being able to do jumping jacks and not feeling like I am going to die. Driving the car and the sterling wheel no longer touches any part of my body! No seatbelt extension needed! Sitting in chairs with arms on them and not feeling squished. Taking long walks down the beach and not getting tired in 5 minutes. Sitting in a booth at a restaurant and having space between me and the table, as well as many more things.. This has been and continues to be the most wonderful journey I ever could have embarked on. I am so thankful to everyone that believes in me and supports me every day. I am so proud of the work I have accomplished so far and I am excited to see what the rest of my life brings.

If you are thinking about the surgery.. or you are doing pre-op.. or even if you just had surgery.. and you feel like you might not want to do this.. or you feel like.. why did I ever do this.. Just take a few deep breathes and think about all the things you can change once you make this lifestyle adjustment. I use to think I would miss food.. I don't. I don't let food rule my life anymore. It has no control over me! I am no longer a slave to the fast-food, sugar, pasta world. If I go out to eat with family or friends, I pick healthier choices. I don't deprive myself of the good time of going out. I stick to salads, grilled chicken, and I usually ask them to put all sauces and dressings on the side. You don't have to give up your social life just because you made this choice. In fact my social life has gotten BETTER. Believe in yourself.. you are your own best cheerleader.

I wish everyone great success and a healthier life.. If I can do it.. YOU can too!!

Congratulations on a successful first 5 months.  You are doing great.  Breaking 300 pounds is a great victory.  I remember it well.  And it was surprising how quickly I was down to 200 pounds.  Stick to plan and you'll be surprised how quickly things change!

I've so happy for you.
