I called about 45 minutes ago and the lady I spoke with said that she doesn't see it yet but that the forms are faxed to another office and they have to put all information in. She was leaving the call open so that she can call me to let me know when she sees it has been updated. She said that if they sent it yesterday then I should be able to call back for a decision next Wednesday at the latest.

I have BCBS and it was 3 days maybe I think? My Surgeon's office told me it would be 5 to 7 days but they left me a message after 3 days saying I was approved. I didn't check my messages until day 5 LOL. 2 extra days of worrying for nothing!

My insurance company just called me and told me that I met all criteria and I was approved. They said the approval was good from Nov 9th until Dec 31st...I know that my surgeon's office is scheduling procedures for January and February now...so I emailed them to see what happens if it is past Dec 31st deadline and she said they would just ask the insurance company for an extension. I am so excited and nervous ...all at the same time..haha

Hi, I have Aetna/Apple Care my approval took 2 days.  I feel the reason that it took two days is because I was always contacting the appointment scheduler for my surgery. To the point that I got her the approval before she received it. I would recommend to contact your insurance and follow up. Wish you the best of luck.

My insurance company called me before they called my surgeons office too. I'm sure my surgeons bariatric coordinator is going to so excited that she doesn't hear from me every day now. Lol

Well my surgery was nearly 7 years ago when vsg was considered investigational and BC would not cover. I read the policy and did research and felt they were wrong. So I appealed to the department of insurance and won. So it all took me a number of months. Was it worth it. Heck Yes. I am at bmi 22 today and so glad I did this. what a life changer. So how ever long it takes, go for it.  diane S

That's awesome! I'm so glad they approved it for you! I got my approval on Friday so now I have to wait for my 1st consultation with my surgeon...he didn't have anything open until December 28th so I will have to wait until January or February for the surgery. It's definitely a waiting game but so worth it.
