I'm feeling extra emotionally sensitive? I'm 12 days post op and find myself tearing up at the slightest things, is this normal?

I can and I will

It's totally normal. Hormones are stored in fat and, in this initial period, we tend to go through "hormone dumping" which can be very emotionally challenging! You're definitely not alone. It's worth talking with your therapist about if it persists, though.

Thanks. It's not crazy or out of control I just notice I tear up easily at the slightest thing. I'll def see my therapist if it becomes a problem

yes, hormones are stored on fat and when the fat is burned off in weight loss, the hormones dump into your blood stream.

Dont be surprised if it also makes you " mean" for a period of time. It passes but might warn family ahead of time.

Im 14 days post op and have been on a bit of an emotional journey with loosing my best friend to cancer 3 days after my surgery. I attributed it to that but I am finding my tolerance to our young adult kids and their gf's is much reduced. Feel very vulnerable at times.

The other thing Im finding is my fingers are sooooo cold (Winter here in Australia) and I struggle to get them warmed up - would love to wear gloves to work but its not practical in my job (admin manager)

Hope you start to feel a bit better soon :)

Physically I feel Im healing really well. Back doing 8 hr days and running the household etc - See my surgeon tommorrow for my first check up

Take care

Shirley

Get used to the cold, Shirley! It gets worse as you drop more of those built-in winter coats we all carried around for years!! I used to be the one griping about being hot all the time. Now my sisters make fun of me for griping about the cold! They keep their air conditioners set at 68 or 70 (feels like a meat locker to me!), and I used to keep mine at 70 just because I was too cheap to set it at 68! Now I'm happiest when the thermostat in my apartment reads 75!! lol (And even then I sometimes have to turn the ceiling fan off!)

That made me laugh in a manic way. I am pre menopausal and I was always the one sweating my way through a moderately warm day in minimal clothes. When I used to go to Northern Queensland the humidity made me resemble a slimy mess with my hair stuck to my head and my face bright red. It was certainly a look. Not an attractive one

I have only lost 27 lbs since my 2 week pre op diet till now - so I guess I better prepare myself for the balance of winter. I thought it may have been a circulation issue but my palms are warmer. I used to be known for my warm hands. Just something I didnt expect so quickly I guess and after such a small loss

Thanks for responding Cathy and Sorry LTMC for hijacking the post :)

For real. I am always cold and it's gotten worse after my recent reconstructive surgery. I assume it'll get better with time.. but it sucks right now!

Isnt it a real mindset change from being always too hot ......

Going to take time to get used to this one

On a positive note, it's summer here, and I'm not constantly thinking I'm having heatstroke like I used to! lol
