tonight I actually DRANK 45 minutes after I ate and I feel ok. not sick. I wonder if that means no more sipping?? :-) I hope.

I just don't want to cause a leak or stretch my new tummy by drinking to fad and much at once.

It is impossible to cause a leak or stretch your stomach by drinking too much - you've got a functional pyloric valve which means liquid leaves your stomach fairly rapidly.

Also - when was your VSG? According to your signature you've still got 11 days to go before surgery.

The sipping is when your insides are very swollen. Sounds like you are pAst that stage now.

It will get easier- you are still early out. Keep sipping! I had back pain- not from drinking too little water, but related to the surgery. 2 reasons- constipation or there was something about the surgery (or perhaps weightloss) that triggered it. Eventually, it fully resolved.

64 ounce stars is a minimum. Some of us need more. I live by the motto "if you don't have to pee, you're not drinking enough."

I live in a desert... I'd be dead on 64 oz of water a day. I do at least 96 oz before noon... and probably another 128 oz the rest of the day.

I had horrible thirst and dry mouth during my first month or two post op. It seemed like nothing quenched it, no matter how much I drank. Finally after 8 weeks it went away. Definitely consider speaking to your PCP about your back pain. Hang in there, it gets better!

You are probably in ketosis from lack of carbs. Thirst/cotton mouth is a common side effect of ketosis. High protein/little carbs can be rough on the kidneys as well. I would demand a a lab test called BUN/Creatine just to rule out anything wrong with your kidneys due to the back pain. Hopefully this is unlikely, but better safe than sorry.

It gets better. My husband had the same issue after his sleeve and now can get in his water. You can try the dry mouth products they make. You can get them at any store. Biotene. That may help some. Maybe some ice chips in betweeen drinks?
