You really don't have to do anything. That's quite normal. If you are using the OH HealthTracker thing here (the one that's a graph, not the widget) what you're likely to see over time won't be a slow steady straight decline, but will look more like a staircase, with lots of alternating flat spots and drops, over and over. You're in one of those flat spots, and you're not quite two moths out. Don't worry. Eat what you should - don't start eating even less, because even now your body can and will try to reduce your metabolic rate if it thinks it's starving. You can actually wind up working against your weight loss by under-eating. I do remember struggling to find things that I could palate in the early months, though. It was hard, especially since food was a comfort for stress prior to the surgery, and now it was the source of stress!
If you can try different kinds of protein shakes (I know, kind of a pricey endeavor) you may find one you tolerate or even enjoy!

Good luck.

Topic: RE: Charlie Horse feeling in the stomach

I'm noticing a trend. This Charlie horse like pain near belly button comes when I'm sitting leaning over or tying my shoes. It's so severe...like when you get them in your calves during sleep. It's sharp, and then you straighten up and it stops but the skin is still painful to the touch for a day or two after.

It is NOT gas or heartburn. I do not smoke. I haven't had the weight loss surgery yet.

BUT...the one common denominator I've noticed with many posts is that we have all had some type of surgery in the stomach area. C-section or tummy tucks or gallbladder surgery or hernia surgery etc. Whatever it is...it appears to be related to abdominal surgery AND doctors don't know what the hell it is. I think that mesh theory is a good one. Anyone know any more than this?

I will do that! I have a Endoscopy on Monday waiting to see what that reveals. If nothing I'll mention everything I find to my family doctor. She is really good and orders any tests I request. Thank you again!

Research the info yourself. Find latest medical studies. There are some in the latest 5 years or  Some (most. -IMO) docs don't know anything about SIBO or how to treat it. Prepare yourself for that.

Topic: RE: TMI Not sure if the right place...as I'm not "finished"...but 3 years out...I cannot vomit

I can't vomit since surgery, spit up a bit but no vomitting as you describe, but I was bulimic for many years prior to wls and I think I broke my ability to vomit when I quit.  I really don't think I can physically vomit and never have in nearly 11 years.

Topic: RE: Hiatel hernia anyone?

I have had 3 and they all required immediate surgical intervention. My intestines would snake through the hernia creating a blockage.

Just a few more steps to wonderland......and believe me I am taking baby steps (ugh).

Topic: RE: Hiatal Hernia post-vsg

I am post RNY as well and I have had 3 hiatal hernias since having wls.  All 3 had to be surgically repaired with the last one ending up being an open procedure.  Once they rearrange your guts it is truly difficult for them to see your intestines so my hernias were always "hidden" but had serious symptoms each time.  All of mine were repaired as soon as they were found because with each one I had difficulty breathing, violent vomiting after swallowing my own saliva and could not eat.

After each surgery I was put on Protonix to manage. It has been almost 1 year since the last episode and sometimes I feel like I can't eat and I have terrible bloating and nausea - all of which were symptoms I experienced prior to all of my surgeries. Nervous...yes, used to it now...yes.

Keep an eye on it because it can get worse pretty quickly.

There are tons of details I can share, but that is the quick and dirty.

But guess what, after 3 surgeries to untangle my guts, I would have WLS all over again.

BTW- I personally think that my food allergies, severe RH, IBS -C, Food intolerances , even rosacea, muscle pains... Ext etc. Are caused by SIBO and Candida... And once these 2 are treated and my gut is healing - I may be able to reverse some of the side effects, and reintroduce some foods back in my diet.

Currently my diet is mostly meats, fish and eggs+ some veggies. Limited fruits like berries, nuts (almonds, brazil, pecans, macadamia and peanuts) coconut.

I don't eat Food or drink anythin with calories until lunch or 1 or 2 Pm. I try to have at least 12,typical 14 or 16 hours ,that I only drink non caloric drinks. A lot of them.  I Dr I k coffe , green tea and ... Diluted diet tonic.

I make my own SF jello...

Dairy can cause a severe mucus, thick that it feels like I am suffucating.  If I do eat food that had dairy..(i e. butter) I know within 30 min - My voice gets very labored- until I can barely talk...

Soy - like from soy sauce ... I start itching..  Like crazy... First my hands..then head..then all over...

Things with gluten - I.e commercial meatballs - I eat that, then withing 30-40 min my gut looks like I swallowed a beach ball..

But cramps - I take subligual pills that really help with that. I NEVER leave house without them. I never know what can be in foods.

If I eat foods that I am not suppose to - my symptoms may last 2-3 or even 4 days... Even if I follow very good diet after ... At least now I know why I am suffering... I call it " I pissed my gut off..and until the intestine inflamation goes down - I would be paying for it... "

Some of that...

Google SIBO... Plus Candida. Those 2 can cause leaky gut. Food allergies.  Major food allegies.

I have that.  I develop allergies to dairy, soy. I have intolerance to gluten and grains. I also tested positive for allergies to banana, pineapple, vanilla, etc etc..

SIBO and Candida cause IBS.  In my case it is IBS-C. Eating so e foods, even a little bit , cause a lot of pain and cramps. Foods from FODMAP list -  I.e onion, garlic, cabbage, mushrooms, most fruits..etc etc can really hurt me.

I take 3 allergy pills a day.  Plus antacid.  Just recently - my guts got severely irritated and I got horrible acid reflux. My doc put me on antibiotics and Rx for diflucan (anticandida) and Rx antacid (Very expensive) "Dexilant".

Plus I put myself on a very restrictive diet

cooked chicken with cooked vegetables like carrots, celery. Then I added Fat - coconut, cooked eggs, avocado. One food every 3 days..

I ate that for 2 week. Then added a few more foods. I.e NSA organic PB, almonds, macadamia nuts.

My body hates breakfast. My gut does not move food very fast - so I have to be very careful what I eat and how much.  I try to not too much fiber. Fiber for me = pain pain and constipation.

My gut is so sensitive - that we think some fillers in medication I take daily can cause a lot of acid.

We can exchange PM if you need more detailed info...

It took me a while to find a great docs who know recent studies re sibo6 a d its side effects.

It has been 3 years Since I actively started searching for answers..

I found a few...
