Breakfast Cereal
This may sound like a dumb question but I am having problems with breakfast! I was never a breakfast eater anyway but now I HAVE to eat in the morning! So, I am tired of oatmeal and cream of wheat and do not always have the time or want to bother with cooking. My question is, are there any ACCEPTABLE cold cereals? Sometimes an old fashioned bowl of Cheerios with banana just sounds good! Any thoughts??
You want a cereal high in fiber, low in sugar and decent in carbs.
Personally I like Kellogs Special K High Protein cereal - it meets all of the above. I add a little fruit to it (straberries/bananas) to sweeten it up a little, or a sprinkle of splenda.
I know a lot of people eat the Kashi cereals as well. Cherrios would be an ok choice - its lacking in the protein (2g) department as well as fiber (1g)... add the milk and you will end up decent on protein thou, but not so great on the fiber unless you want to add some benefiber to it. The Special K has 10g protein and 5g fiber.
Other options are South Beach High Protein Cereal Bars - they come in pnut butter, chocolate, cinnamon raisin and cranberry. Fiber One bars are also good - less protein, more fiber with these than the SB bars. I like the Jimmy Dean D-Lights breakfast sandwiches - personally I pull off the cheese and one of the english muffins - great filling high protein breakfast - you can even make them yourself and put them in the freezer so you can grab and go in the morning. If you are familiar with Trader Joes their Fiber Muffins/Cakes are also very tasty and a great breakfast choice with 13g of insoluable fiber in them.
Also dont limit yourself to 'typical' breakfast foods - you can eat tuna for breakfast if you want, turkey, dinner leftovers - whatever is quick and easy for you.

Look for high protein, low sugar cereals and you should be ok. I haven't had any myself so I don't have any specific recommendations. Be careful with how much milk you put in it though or you would essentially violate the "no drinking while eating" rule. I know a lot of people have cold cereal for breakfast but I consider it too much of a slider (because of mixing it with milk) and I don't go there. Would you get the same satisfaction if you mixed it with yogurt - that might be a better option? Hope this helps! Bekah

I like the Special K Protein Plus and I add half a banana and 1 strawberyy sliced up. I eat it with a small amount of 1% milk. I eat this about 2-3 times a week. The Kashi crunch cereal is okay as well. Anothe rchoice is yogurt Dannan Fit and Trim with granola mixed in it as well. You can also make breakfast borritios with whole wheat shells. You can put anything in them even left over meat from the night before.
