Hey guys...I had my surgery!!!!!
just want to say thanks so much for all your support, it has really meant so much and I could not have done this without all of you!!!
so i am 3 days post-op, I can't believe I made it to the other side. I had my surgery Thurs. and got out of the hospital yesterday, Sat. The surgery went well and I am feeling ok. The day of my surgery my only major complaint was the gas pain, OY VEY....that was a real *****!!!! But I already knew from my awesome OHers that walking is the best thing so I walked a few times. THe pain meds helped subside alittle too. Friday I was not feeling so hot but still managable. By sat. I was ready to get out of the hospital and thankgod my dr. was there early and got me discharged and I was home by 2pm. I pretty much slept all day, on and off. Today I feel sore and whenever I take a sip of something it kinda hurts till it gets settled. But I guess this is normal. I do feel hugnry though, and I was wondering if this is normal. My dr. ok'd me for protein shakes and I still have my Medifast so I've been drinking those. I am taking it slow with them but I still find myself kinda hungry a few hours later. Last night I also had some broth and that helped. Any other suggestions to help with the hunger pains. I also wonder if it's really hunger pains, and maybe this head hunger I've heard about.
Thanks, Elissa

HW 232/ SW 210/ CW 122/ GW 125 HT 5'1" Congrats on being on the Losers Bench, I am glad everthing went well for you. I know when I was on clear liquids only I felt hunger (that was the first full week) Once I started on FULL liquids and puree I was not hungry at all, my protein shake filled me up really well. If I think I feel hungry I will sip some of my Crystal Light and that seems to take care of the hungry feeling. I would say take it easy but if your hungry in a couple of hours you might try water or if that doesn't work have another shake.

Yeah! Glad everything went well with no complications. Keep up the walking...it will continue to help and make you feel better. As for being hungry...the whey protein shakes really do help...I make mine using Syntrax Nectar protein (lemon tea) cuz I can't stand the milk shake feeling. But whenever I think I am hungry, I start sipping on that again and feel full. Make sure you get in as much liquid/protein drink as you can...a lot of times hunger feeling is actually caused by needing more liquids (according to my doc).
I know head hunger can sometimes be a problem too...but I have just been telling my head to shut up! I keep reminding myself that with my protein shakes and all the tons of vitamins I am taking...that my body is getting all the nutrition it needs and I don't need that yummy steak they just showed on the commercial...commercials are evil! LOL

The only time I hurt when I drank was when I took to big of a drink. Trying Sipping.
I never got hungry, but you can drink as much as you want so fill up on that.
