Can I crush calcuim?

I am trying to limit the calcium chews but I have not been released yet to take pills (well I am taking my vitamin D because there small and I ran out of the chewable) but wondering if I can crush the regular calcium.  With taking 6 of the chews a day at 15 calories each plus the additional carbs I am thinking (also the 5 D chewable I had was also adding calories)

I have totally stopped losing any weight.  It is stressing me out looking at the scale all the time so I have decided I need to stay off of it for a while, but I am also trying to cut the carbs down some so anything will help.  Also I have not started yet taking Iron can it be crushed?  (I have the Tender Iron from vitalady)?

Calcium - crush and/or dissolve in water, and put it in your protein shakes or Crystal Lite. The Tender Iron can be crushed and chewed. Remember no dairy, caffeine, whole grains, or eggs with iron. Just vitamin C, fruit or meat.

Does it have taste if dissolved in my drinks?  I am such a chicken to try things and everyone has talked about how bad the Iron sits.

No taste in protein shakes or sweet drinks when you add calcium. First dissolve the crushed pills in a little water and add it to your drinks. The calcium will dissolve completely and the fillers will sink to the bottom. Don't worry about drinking the fillers.

The Tender Iron should be the way to go for you. You might still have to add magnesium oxide to you vitamins to keep things moving but it's supposed to be the most gentle and effective iron out there except for infusions.

Thanks for your help I too need to know how to vitamins. vitalady just responded to one post I wrote..

I was wondering what you mean by  Just vitamin C, fruit or meat.
do you mean that you can only take vitamin c with the iron and that they can only be taken with fruit or meat only? Thank you,  Alizka

Take iron with vitamin C to help the iron absorb better, and eat a little food to help avoid burping the iron. Advice I've heard given is, eat a little piece of fruit when you take your iron and vitamin C.

The Tender Iron can be chewed and it is sweet - too sweet for me, but I chew it with a very sour vit C to offset the sweet and increase iron absorption.  Even though it is supposed to be mild, it still constipates me so you may have to use Miralax or mag oxide to counter-act.  I found this out when I forgot my iron for a week-long trip and didn't have any "issues"

You can use the powdered UpCalD for your calcium and it is the cheapest way to get your calcium in since you buy it in bulk in a can.  I stir mine into cottage cheese every morning.  It is tasteless, but a *****alky but you get used to it.

MajorMom - I didn't know the undissolved stuff was not calcium - just filler.  I used to put the UpCalD in my Crystal Lite drinks but got tired of swishing the solids in the bottom around all the time so I could drink them.  I thought I wasn't getting all the calcium if I didn't - DOH!  doh.gif image by sarafina159

Hi Sandy.  The week 3 stall is very common from what I understand.  I'm just now seeing my scale move...I'll be out 6 weeks on Tuesday.  I sat at 184.5 for at least 2 1/2  weeks.  This morning I was 181.  I was getting pretty frustrated myself, and a little depressed as well.  Then I realized that I was at the same weight I was at just prior to my wedding...almost 12 years ago.  So, I just lost 12 years of gained weight in less than 4 months..Not bad!   So, from this point on my husband will be seeing me at my lowest weight ever since he as known me.  He wasn't really for the sugery, but lately I'm slapping his hands away all the time!  LOL

Sandy,
What are you taking. I found Citrical Petites. Not tiny, but not bigger than a dime or my NUT recommended UPcal powder to add with Protein drinks. She said you can get it on line. I have not tried it yet. Be patient with the stall. Remember what happened to me. The scale DID move. I don't think it's your carbs, I think it's just part of the process

I have the Citrical Petites but I was using the chewy bites which are good I am just getting a little tired of 6 a day.

On the scale I have decided I just need to stay off the scale for a while.  My calories have also jumped up since I have been trying to get additional protein.
