My little dog JJ isn't eating and I am worried about him. He has congestive heart failure and the vet gave him a year to live and that was over a year ago. He is acting so sad and not like himself. Please pray that he gets better. I am not ready to lose him.

Awww - swinging for JJ. Its hard to see a pet not feel good, and to lose one is worse.

Oh dear. I'm swinging for him. I hate it when they are sick and there is nothing you can do to make them feel better.

Is he drinking? If not take him in to the vet. I was a vet tech before I was a stay at home mom. Sometimes as they get older and are in pain they may not eat which isn't as big of a deal as not drinking. Now if he goes more than a few days without food take him in.

Hi isn't drinking much but I managed to get him to take some water from a syringe. I have given him 3 syringes so far and I am going to keep giving it to him. He isn't showing any signs of dehydration.
If he still isn't himself in the morning I will take him to the vet. I am just scared to death that they are going to tell me it's time to let him go. I'm just not ready.

Taz...pls try some canned food ( if the vet says it's ok ). My dog had pancreatitis and it was all he would eat.. Take care!!!

I don't have any canned dog food but I tried some baby food chicken and broth. I did get him to lick a little bit off my finger but he definitely wasn't interested. Earlier I tried to give him some of his favorites, cheese and prime rib and he wouldn't touch it.
He isn't acting that sick. He is sleeping alot but he always does. I have the laziest dogs around. I will keep trying to give him the chicken and water and see how he is tomorrow. If he seems to be getting worse I will take him to the ER vet.
