weight training

When is it okay to start some light weight training? I have been walking 4+ miles a day and I feel great. I just got back from trying to hit golf balls for the first time in two years. I found out I am not ready for golf but I would like to start doing something more than walking. Any suggestions?

Nothing wrong with adding 3 or 4 days of light weight lifting. Clear it with your surgeon's office first but 2 months out shoudl be fine for light weights.

I was cleared at6 weeks for everything.  Before that was cleared to do anything but abdominal stuff.  So check, but you should be good to go.

Don,
when I went for my 3 week appointment with Dr. Sudan he said I could start back at the YMCA lifting light weights but not abdominal stuff. I do leg and arm stuff. I am a definite lightweight at that stuff though and I told him I'd only be doing it with 15-30lbs.
