PRE-OP QUESTION:Low blood sugar

I have low blood sugar written down in my tablet as one of my many questions to ask after approval.

So, what causes one to possibly have LBS after wls?

Is it due to not having as much sugar stored in the body?

Thanks for those that respond. I do not take this surgery
lightly and want to gain as much knowledge as possible now.

I think Southernlady did a lot of research on this and you may be able to see some of it in her profile. You're talking about reactive hypoglycemia, right? Where your blood sugar levels crash.

It's usually directly related to carbohydrate intake and can be very problematic for some people.  It's happened to me a few times but I figured out what caused it and never at those foods again.

I have also found that if you are exercising regularly - your are less likely to experience the reactive hypoglycemic episodes.  Everytime I stop exercising for a while I start to have episodes again.

Not a wealth of information but at least it might help you out some.

Gina is right, I did a lot of research on the subject because I was UNFORTUNATELY "blessed" with RH prior to surgery so I wanted to be sure and have all the info I needed to avoid any surgery that can exacerbate it.

You can see the research in my OH blog, dates are May 20 & 26 postings.
