I bought a Ninja blender last week and I finally had a chance to try it. The blender was awesome. My smoothie was far from awesome. Does anyone have a good simple recipe for a strawberry banana smoothie? This morning I used plain greek yogurt, frozen strawberries, ice, and chocolate protein powder. YUCK!!!

I would try vanilla protein powder and add some splenda.... That beiing said I have never made them for myself but have watched mine being made at the smoothie stand.... Good Luck you can make it work!

Go to the search bar and look up protein shake recipes. I know last week I think Jody posted a whole list of yummy looking shake recipes.
Also look up "the world according to eggface" she also has a whole list of shake recipes.
When using greek yogurt I do need to add extra flavor and sweetener.
Keep trying things early postop taste funny and will change as you get farther out.

Good luck!

That even sounds bad.  Really, I don't like banana stawberry anything.  So that being said, I would use frozen strawberries, vanilla portein and if you use greek yogurt, add either SF vanilla syurp or splenda to sweeten it.  I do stawberry protein ice cream with unsweetened soymilk, stawberries, SF vanilla syurp and sweetner.  You could add a frozen banana if you want.  Greek yogurt is pretty darn tart and it takes a lot to sweeten it.

This is my strawberry smoothie recipe. I use plain Dannon greek yogurt, sf strawberry syrup, splenda, 2-3 frozen strawberries, and 2% milk. I mix it together and taste it to make sure it doesn't need more splenda or syrup. It turns out really good.

Koko, that sounds perfect! Where do I find sf strawberry syrup? We have the same doctor too. You are a couple of months ahead of me. My three month check up is on Wednesday. What can I expect from my group meeting for diet advancement?

I buy Hershey's chocolate and strawberry from Walmart in the section where they carry the regular stuff. I use both to help with my protein drinks and stuff. At the 3 month check up you start introducing solid foods. You start increasing your sizes as well. You still eat protein first, then non-starchy veggies next then starch. It's kind of good to begin eating regular things in small quantities. Oh, I forgot that I use the bullet blender to mix it together.

Koko and Don,

Koko's recipe looks great except for the milk.  I'd just go with water or Almond milk since you already have the yogurt you shouldn't need the milk for extra "creaminess".  There are plent of reasons why I think milk should not be used (even skim) but for now I'll just say that you don't want to add in any extra sugars or calories if you can help it.  The smoothie should taste great without the milk...really - give it a try!

Trust me - milk is totally unecessary and can hinder your long-term success .... Just 2 cents from a veteran
