Before surgery I couldn't lose on 1200 calories either. My metabolism was shot. Did they check to see if you had metabolic or insulin resistance issues?

Yep, that is one of the reasons we end up with surgery.
You may have to cut carbs to lose. Up your protein and lower you carbs and see what happens.

Tanya, I had to do food logs for a month pre-surgery and my daily intake never exceeded 1100. I HAD to watch carbs as I am still diabetic but was on insulin and counting carbs. Nut told me I wasn't eating enough carbs. I still gained 2 lbs that month instead of losing.
Typically if you have PCOS or diabetes or are insulin resistant, it's almost impossible to lose weight unless you are down under 800 and even then, you have to eat mostly protein.

Hi Tanya
It is tough, but I had to keep protein way up, cut the carbs (typically 2 slices of whole wheat bread got me to my limit), kill the caffeine, drastically cut fat, and drink 8 glasses of water, and keep a log. I also had to eat 2 cups of low carb vegetables every day, and 1 cup of fresh fruit.
You might try walking some everyday. Start out slow, and add a little more distance every couple of days. Since you'll have to do this after surgery, it's a good start, and also helps with insulin resistance.
Good luck!

My Kaiser gave me a 1200 calorie diet. I couldn't lose on it either. I had to do Atkins to get my pre-surgery weight off.
Are you logging on a website? I love myfitnesspal. com . It's free. I started there before surgery so I have a record of everything I've eaten for the last 18 months. It can be a real eye-opener to input my food and see what the calories/carbs/protein/fiber/fat actually are.
