X Post - Slow Loser - How slow is too slow??

Every plan is so different.  On mine, we aren't supposed to have any carbs except vegetables until we have lost 75% of our excess weight.  Our starting weights are very similar and though I am a slow loser (made worse by sliding into habit eating) I am still thrilled to have lost 70 pounds in a year.
Try very hard not to compare yourself to anyone else and remember that the scale is going DOWN!!!!
Keep up the good work.

Hi Diana this might you feel better, you are losing faster than I am. It has been almost four mo. and I have only come down 32 lbs. I'm a little nerveous but I think I can reach goal. I am very happy to be going down. Good luck to ya

You started off even smaller than me (and ppl are telling me I'm a lightweight), so I guess that would be right, having only lost 32 lbs.  Actually I think that's pretty darn good!  Keep it up.  Way to go!!

Increase your protein via low carb whey isolate protein shakes and decrease the carbs. MacMadame's list of protein and carbs and calories is a good one.

I'm about the slowest loser out there.  It took me 18 months to get to goal.  I only lost 3 pounds my 2nd month and it was slow going after that as well.  During months 4-6 I exercised 3 hours a day and still only lost around 4 pounds during those months.  I can't remember the numbers. I was so discouraged but just kept at it.  Once I saw that the exercise wasn't adding much benefit I cut it to an hour to 1.5 hours a day.  I still try to exercise 6 hours or more a week at 19 months out.

What I learned was that the worst thing for me was comparing myself to others.  Once I quit doing that, I started feeling better about myself.  I figure it's not how long it takes us to get to goal but where we are 5 years out from surgery to determine if it was a success or not.  I'm praying to do everything necessary to be under 150 in 5 years.  Only time and the healthy lifestyle changes will tell what the reality is.

Hang in there and you'll do just fine!

Good point! At 5 years out, will it really matter if it took you 10 months or 5 or 14 to get to goal? Of course not.

This is also why I included my pre-op weight loss in my ticker...

Congrats on sticking with it.  I only hope I can be that strong.  Like you said we shouldn't compare ourselves to others (easier said than done).  I really just need to focus on getting healthier rather than the weight loss per week, I guess.  Thanks again!  And congrats on making it to goal!
