Do I need to buy SF Ketchup to make ****tail Sauce?
Gina opened the gate for me when she said this morning to ask away - so here's another one of my questions.
I'm 28 days post op today and would like to take some of your advice by trying shrimp with a little ****tail sauce. Do I need to buy the SF ketchup and make my own or could I use the premade ****tail sauce in the market?
I'm afraid
of dumping!

I just got back from the market and checked out how much sugar was in the ****tail sauces - all of them were 11 gr and higher. So I checked Heinz Ketchup and it was only 4 gr of sugar. So I decided to make my own ****tail sauce with the Heinz Ketchup and Prepared Horseradish sauce. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Thanks for your help.

YOu put me in the mood for shrimp. Think I'll pick some up today.
Bear in mind to look at serving size when looking at the sugar content. e.g ****tail sauce is 11-12 g per 1/4 cup and the 4 g for ketchup is per tablespoon. So I reckon there isn't much difference by volume. Arguably, there is less in the shop bought.
I think I'll use the ****tail sauce languishing in my fridge because I'll only use one or two tablespoons. Probably one. Plus I just checked and I don't hav horseradish in the house.
(It does work out nicely when you make your own mind you. My father in law used to pour shrimp and ****tail sauce over cream cheese for an easy appetizer. )

Like Mara, I was told less than 8 grams of sugar per serving and you should be safe from dumping. I use regular ketchup as a topping on my meatloaf....if the amount isnt in the ****tail sause you should be okay.
Glad that you are enjoying your food....I was so much happier as I was able to eat and chew again.

Jennifer, thanks for the tip. I love meatloaf w/ketchup too. I decided to make my own ****tail sauce because the premade ones were over 11 gr of sugar. Heinz Ketchup was only 4 gr of sugar so I will make my own sauce with the Prepared Horseradish. Wish me luck!

I don't dump but I haven't gotten SF ketchup or ****tail sauce. You really eat so little of it.

Price,
I ended up buying Prepard Horseradish sauce because the premade ****tail sauce had 11 gr of sugar and more in all the different brands I could find. Heinz Ketchup only has 4 gr of sugar. I'll let you guys know who it goes. Thanks for you response.
