I'm baaaaack & sleeved
Hello guys,
Well I am back online after being sleeved last Thursday,. I am hesitant to tell my tale, because I don't want to seem "braggy", but I wlll in case anyone is scared of the procedure. I am a wuss when it comes to hospitals and being *****ed and probed, but my procedure went great. My first day was hard because my pain meds were delayed in recovery. The nurses thought I had sleep apnea....but the pain was actually in my back (I have chronic back pain). Once the meds were flowing, I caught up on a lot of sleep. It was so good. The next day, was a breeze. I was up walking the halls and visiting with the nurses. I was also very afraid about the catheder and the stomach drain......such wasted energy, because the removal of both were not painful at all. Currently, I am down 10lbs since surgery 5 days ago and 23 lbs since my first visit with Dr.Richards.
I came home Friday evening and I have been feeling great. I honestly have to keep reminding myself that I had surgery. I actually went to get my nails done yesterday. The only "ugly" side effect I've had are the stomach spasms. They are painful, but my doctor has given me medicine and they get lighter by the day. I find that it happens most with cold items, so I have been drinking things at room temperature instead of cold. I have also been drinking decaf hot tea in the morning. I am on a liquid diet so if anyone has warm meal ideas....I'm open. I am so sick of soup. I am thanking God for my experience and wanted to share, not to brag, but to help anyone who might be really anxious. (although, I know we are all very different...please keep in mind, this was MY experience). I also have to say Dr. Richards, his staff (Amy & Niki) and the 5th floor staff at Gwinnett Medical in Duluth, GA are the absolute best. If you are in GA and looking for a dr...please look into their program. I had my first visit in July, my approval was back in 1 week...no appeals. They know exactly what's needed and makes sure you are squared away....no hassle. Ok, I'm stepping off my soapbox and thanks for listening. I can't wait to catch up on the discussions I've missed. Have a great day, Fellow LWers

DD,
I'm so happy for you. Your journey begins and you're on your way to a new healthy life. Make sure you listen to your body when it tell you it's time to rest. I bet your nail look pretty - something for the fall?
I ate alot of SF Popsicles in my liquid stage and mostly water with Mio (water enhancer- fruit punch). I got sick of the soup real quick too. I also had SF jello - but wasn't crazy about the bitter taste.
Congratulations on your new Sleeve!

Awesome!!!
I could only drink warm things too so I drank a lot of SF hot chocolate, tea, unjury protein chicken broth, regular chicken and beef broth. Now I'm just the opposite...the colder the better.
