OT: I want to whine please

I apparently caught the cold from hell that my cat, Charley, had a little over a week ago. My throat is scratchy, having trouble breathing and running a fever.

I'm allergic to psuedophedrine so 99% of cold medicines are out of the question.

Ugh...sorry you've caught the cat's cold. Give it back!

What can you take or use?

He doesn't need it either...lost about 2 lbs this month and for a cat, that's a LOT>

I can take anything that does not have psuedophedrine which is a VERY short list. I tend to take Airborne or did pre-op...right now, I'm just drinking a warm liquid.

I hope you feel better soon.  I am just getting over being sick for about 2 weeks.  Mostly better, just a scratchy throat when I wake up.  I hope yours is gone a lot sooner.

Whine away, Liz!!! Everyone I know has a version of the crud. I'm thankful my DH's is going away on it's own. He had a horrible cough and I thought for sure it was bronchitis...

Try some Simply Saline after your shower each morning. I've done it since a week or two before surgery and I have had good luck with sinus issues.

tylenol for the fever and aches and pains. Steam and Neti sinus rinse for the congestion are very helpful. Plenty of fluids and rest.

Charley is well....and none of the other cats have gotten it.

As for me, I feel better this morning. I went to bed running a fever and had to sleep propped up to breathe...at some point during the night, the fever broke. I was nausous during the night but never actually threw up, just felt like I was gonna. For sleevers, it's known as the foamies...I know how y'all feel!

What I was taking was Theraflu Severe Cold and Cough...it doesn't have pseudophedrine in it and has the advantage of being a nice warm drink. Had it not been so bad yesterday, I would have just used the Airborne I have on hand.

I know that I'll have it for several more days but hopefully the worst is behind me.

Well, technically we can't but it's odd that he had one last week and now I have one. According to everything I read, the cold virus is species specific but we all have heard of virus crossing from one species to another...
