I was so excited about 19 posters and now I'm finding out about yours and other deletes...LOL

Your post is blue just like Ginas?  Is that from copying and pasting?

Boy I would love to have popcorn with butter!

Good Menu!

For some reason, at least on my computer, every other post is blue.  Don't have a clue about that.
I know about the popcorn.  At first I wasn't using butter but I decided to add some for the calories and so far I haven't gained from it yet.  Must be the malasborption.  I am continually surprised at how much I can eat and not gain.  It is looking more and more like I can eat like a DSer in spite of what my surgeon and NUT say.  I just keep adding calories waiting for some kind of gain.  Strange, isn't it?  I have gone from about 1400 calories in Sept. to over 2000 calories now and still haven't gained anything.  I did stop losing but I am curious about how much I need to eat to gain?  I guess I will find out eventually if I keep adding the calories.

When you had your first surgery, did you lose and then gain it back?

Your Surgeon must have wanted to make sure you lost this time.  I sometimes which I had gotten the DS but then I think about all the pills I'd have to take and I change my mind.  Since you aren't absorbing a lot are you taking all of your vitamins etc.?

I'm guessing you probably have another year before you start absorbing.  Do you worry about having to give up calories when that time comes?

I did lose 120 lbs in the first 2 years and then regained 100 lbs over the next 5 or 6 years.  I never changed how I ate, though.  At first I ate less because I had some restriction but over the years I was able to eat more and more until I was eating as much as ever.  I never really changed anything except for one year I did cut out refined carbs but I was still eating a lot.  I maintained my weight then at about 150 lbs.
My surgeon told me I wouldn't have hardly any malabsorption.  To tell you the truth I don't know what he did.  My surgery is acting now like I thought it would in 2002 but truthfully I was eating a lot more calories then because I was eating so much and so badly.  I was out of control with my carb addiction.  That is why I avoid them so much now, I don't want to open that can of worms again.  I have never successfully managed to eat those things in moderation and I don't want to try now.
I do take a bunch of vitamins.  I have just accepted it.  I just figure I am making up for when I wasn't taking enough.  Before my revision all I really took regularly were the multivitamins and calcium.  I started taking D because mine tanked but that is really all they told me to take.  It wasn't until I started coming here that I learned what I should have been taking.
I'm not sure if I will start absorbing more since my revision was supposed to make me absorb less.  It's not like a virgin surgery since I have been malabsorbing for 9 years.  I guess time will tell.  I'm not too worried about having to eat less if that does happen, at least not at this point.  Hopefully I am able to be flexible with my eating.  I have made so many changes in the last 1 1/2 years.  I hope I am able to continue making whatever changes I need to.

Now that I think of it you don't eat many carbs which should help you if you start to absorb.  I think it would be easy to cut back on proteins etc.  it's those terrible carbs that everyone gets hooked on (including me!!!).

I think you'll do just fine and I'm glad I get to share in this journey with you.  Do you keep a diary or anything so you can help others later on?  I wish I had started one.

I wish I'd kept a diary, too.  In fact, I wish the internet and computers and cell phones and digital cameras had been around when I was younger.  I would probably have my whole life and my childrens lives documented.  As it is, there are a lot of pictures.  One of these days I going to scan them so I can keep an album online.

No coffee...what were they thinking????(LOL)   I don't drink coffee and usually that's all anyone has.  Getting a coffee on the way there sounds like a good plan!

Almost perfect menu!
