First Steps
Welcome to the LW Board.
Good luck with your decision. Please take your time and go to as many consultations and support groups as you need. Be sure to look at all surgery types. Read Gina's(Major Mom) post for the different eating behaviors. Ask us any questions that you have.
I went to two different surgeons and both recommended RNY for me. I have been very pleased with my surgery, but you must be ready to make life style changes for the rest of your life. We have successful people from all surgery types and it is a very personal decision.
You will need more dedication to vitamins with RNY or DS. We have lots of people with the sleeve that have been very succesful. I think continuing with your support after your surgery and your weight loss helps you stay on track and continue to be succesful. If you have co-morbidities such as high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes you would probably qualify with less than 40 BMI, but be sure to check with your insurance company.

I have a sleeve and am 9 months out today and at my goal weight.
I agree with others read as much as you can. Price had a great suggestion on going to. center of Excellence I did and they got me approved first time. My BMI was right around 40, but I think when they submitted it it was 39 something.
I love my sleeve. I can tolerate any food. I limit carbs, but have added fruits and vegetables, occ. whole grains. Once in a while a "treat".
Read all you can and welcome.

Hi
All of the previous posts have given you lots of information to absorb.
My bit of wisdom is to take one step at a time. This is a long (lifetime) journey more like a marathon and not a sprint. It takes perserverence to be ready and achieve your goal. But a great accomplishment it is when you get there.
Good luck!!
