Good Morning. So, how did your week go?

How much of your to-do list did you get done?  Did you you see progress or achieve any of your goals?  Forgive me, I've been reading too much Six Sigma Green Belt crap. {sigh}  lol
****

I think I'm going to be trying to squeeze everything I planned to do all week into today. For some reason I got very little work done...I listened to our government lead tell boatloads of war stories...does that count? Between my war stories and his, it was like dueling war stories all week long.  Just a word of caution, old soldiers never die, they just smell that way.

I got a lot of work stuff done and that was good but not so fun.  Hopefully I can get done with my 10am meeting and have time to drive Poppy this afternoon.  Haven't made it to the gym or done any exercises except before PT when I got there early.  That has to change.  Now that the knee is better, work, ponies, gym are all competing for my time and I have to figure a way to get it all in.

Have a great weekend everyone.

This week has been a week of rest for me.  Other everyday chores, I've been a slug.  But I've curbed the carb monster that was starting up again (it is always there )  and I've been working out a lot.

Next week, it is back to being an energizer bunny!

Hi Gina,

This week I've been trying to 'get back in the saddle' so to speak.  My husband and I were all set to move back home to CA to be closer to our adult sons and their wives. We were under contract for a house and then literally at the 11th hour it all fell apart. We spent an incredible amount of time and resources trying to make that happen and I'm afraid that it may never happen now. To say that I've been just devastated in a major understatement.

Because of that I've been working to heal my 'wounds' surrounding not being able to move closer to my sons and their wives and trying to look at the proverbial glass as being half full... i.e., being grateful for what I have, instead of &itching about what I don't have or wish I did... I'm better at it sometimes, than others. Right now, I'd say that I'm still really struggling with the pain of not being able to be closer to our children and I'm afraid it may never happen.

On a good note... and one of the many things for which I'm grateful, I hosted a couple of support group meetings this week. A general meeting and then one of my real favorites, a Grads Group. Both of those made me grateful to be here, embraced by those who appreciate, love and care about me... and I them. My last group I'll be attending this week will be the DS group for our area. I have really found that I have found the most incredible friends; online and in person through this journey. Some  of them have become extended family and we seem to lift one another up, if and when we stumble.

Another positive thing is that before my WLS, I would have surely incurred a significant weight gain, but I haven't... That's definitely a glass half full moment... maybe a lot more than half full.

In terms of getting things done, it seems like my house always falls apart when I'm gone and I was in CA house hunting for nearly 2 months, so you can only imagine. I've been working on trying to get it back in order. My bedroom finally looks fit to live in... If you don't open the closets and drawers... That's going to be saved for another week.

Barbara,
I'm sorry your move to California didn't work out right now.  Maybe it will later.  I can't imagine living that far from my kids and grandkids.

I feel like I have an entire group of best friends on the board here.  I love the support we get and give to each other.

Hi Linda,

Thanks and I hope that we'll be able to move back at some point... I never want to think that the door back to them is closed forever, but for now it is. And, as you say, it is so very hard to be so far away from the kids... especially since cir****tances have made it much less likely that we will be able to travel back and forth to visit them.

Regarding the feeling of friends and family here on the board. I truly understand and appreciate that too. We had an exceptionally tight, supportive group on the NC forum for years and over the past year or so it has virtually died on the vine. I can't tell you how much I miss many of those friends that I made there. Some I still see at my support group meetings I host, but some have just drifted away.

I look forward to making new friends here.

Thanks again for your warm note,

Barbara

Hi,

I don't think we have "met" here on the boards, but just want to say how sorry I am that things fell apart. Hopefully, soon you will be able to get back to CA.

(((hugs))),

Hi Lynn,

I don't think we've met yet either and I'm glad to make your acquaintance.

I too am sorry that we were able to make the move and to be honest, it looks like we won't for at least two years and I'm afraid that we'll be priced out of the market. That said, we'll have to what happens in a couple of years.

I look forward to getting to know you,

Barbara

What are your measures for all the goals, and have you mapped the process and removed any non-value added steps?
