Rethinking my goal

I put on a pair of size 12 pants today and a shirt that I had that was too small.  They both fit great.  I am starting to rethink my goal.  I am 158#, 62" and a BMI of 29.   I know that is still overweight, but if I stay about this size I could get away with little to no plastic surgery.  I hardly have batwings, my belly is a little floppy and my breasts are still a little full although a little droopy. Am I crazy?  Am I seeing myself myself through rose colored glasses?  Somebody please tell me that I am still at an unhealthy weight and to stick to my guns. Has anybody else felt this way?  I don't think I am yet capable of eating enough to maintain this weight, but I am scared of this feeling of contentment.

I thought that way too when I hit the 140's.  Then I saw a pic.  Compared the pic from then to when I was 125... big difference.

I'll tell ya - you'll be SO much happier getting down to your original goal weight, even with the floppy skin and "girls".

Now - I know the floppy skin is an issue with almost everyone - but after your honeymoon period you will get some "redistribution"... and possibly a little bounce-back weight.  I'm 3.5 yrs out and still redistributing... my summer clothes fit differently this year than last, and I weigh the same.

Oh - I got off track - BUT - my legs look MUCH better than they did before.  They filled out, I'm not crazy about how they look in pants now - but I can wear shorts now and not feel so self-conscious about it.

So give your body some time to figure out what to do and I think you'll be pretty darned happy when its all said and done.

And I second Jodi! Your head mislead you when you were heavy, and it's misleading you now. Let your body make the final decision. It knows where it needs to be.

Tonya, let your body keep losing as long as it can and go as low as it can...you will fill out/redistribute about year 3 and after year two will be fighting bounceback...give yourself some wiggle room.

Just RIDE it down...I promise you, it will feel better if you do.

I agree with the others Tonya.  Go as low as you can go(within normal BMI).  That will give you a some room later on.  My surgeon's goal was 145(I think).  When I got there I was thrilled, but then decided for a normal BMI which is 132.  I like to stay some below that in case of bounceback.  I don't ever want to go into the overweight category again!!

You are still early out, enjoy it while it lasts - maintenance is a lot harder!!

Goal weights are such personal, individual things.  After being on this board since 2008, I see some who are happy losing down to "ideal" weight for their height while others choose a weight and are still considered overweight, according to the charts and standards, but  they are totally happy.  Some want more curves, others do not.

I knew I wanted to go as low as possible but  still remain in the guidelines for my height.  I had dieted down to 148, size 8/10, in 2004/2005.  I told my surgeon after all the effort  and changes surgery would bring and require of me, I wanted to get back down to my favorite ideal weight...ideal for me.  I am very small boned.  I wear a size 5 ring and 7.5 shoe,  i am a little over 5'9".  My ideal is 128, which is the absolute lowest a person my height should weigh.  I range between  131 to 134.  I wear a 4/6 depending on design.  You would think as tall as I am and as little asI weigh, I would be a smaller size.  I still have some areas where I need to lose.  And yes, when I was 150 - 160, I did not really need plastic surgery like I do now.  However I feel great at this weight, and it is fairly easy to maintain considering how often I eat things that are off plan.  My goal is still 128.  That was my favorite weight, but 129 is considered normal and the bottom of the chart for my height.

I recommend going lower because if you have bounce back weight, you will be happier versus bounce back and feeling like you weigh too much..

Daisy, I think 5"9' and a size 4/6 is awesome!  You are being too hard on yourself girl!  I'm 5"10", but have a larger bone structure, so I feel sure I'll never wear a size 4/6.  I think I'd have to be dead!
