 Hi Everyone...
I appreciate how much everyone contributes to this board for us newbies and lurkers.  It's because people like you are willing to share that gives us the confidence to go ahead with surgery.
I am 5'5" 199 lbs, 44 years old, mom of two boys, A yo-yo dieter and tired of gaining more than I lose every time.
I recently moved to Chicago and have decided to go to Mexico to have surgery.  I am self pay and I couldn't get an American doctor on board even with other issues.
I have a goal weight of 135 but I would be thrilled at 150 as I haven't seen that for many, many, many years.
I gave up caffeine and carbonated beverages over 2 years ago.  I have a little problem with a sweet tooth so I am a little nervous about the VSG.
I've read most posts but anything that you think I may need to know is welcome.
Again, thanks for sharing!

Congratulations on giving up the caffeine and carbonated beverages!!
July 25th will be here before you know it.

Welcome.

i had to laugh at your goal and will be happy with.  I was going to be happy with 140 but ended up at 114, actually 111 was my lowest.  Now I'm hanging around 115-116.  I couldn't believe I could get to here and actually stay there.  Surgery was the best thing I have ever done for myself.
Glad you found us.  Looking forward to sharing your journey.

HI I  went to Dr. Joya July 1, 2010, I have lost 62lbs, I am only 6lbs away from my goal weight. You will have a good experience there I am a lightweight as well so it is a tremendous difference. There was someone from the messages boards that I became friends with that had their surgery the same day as I did, we ended up being in rooms right next to one another.

It was difficult for me to get approval here in the states as well becaue of my BMI, even though I had additional health issues. PCOS didn't count thought. The PCOS was also one if the reasons why my weightloss was a bit slower as well.

Good luck and you will do well!
