Good Morning. Any survivors?
Who won the Turkey Day battle? What was your secret weapon? If you lost, what was the secret weapon used against you?

My secret weapon was gluten free turkey gravy. Given enough gravy, even turkey will go down and stay down. The other weapon was mashed cauliflower. It doesn't fill you up like mashed potatoes. {happy camper}

I never thought of mashed turnips before. I'll try it sometime.
turkey first, then veggies. I didn't get any stuffing and really didn't miss it at all. I did have a bite of sweet potatoes and a small biscuit. then corners off a few pieces of desert. I did all my protein drinks and ate protein and veggies at supper (ate so little before I was actually hungry instead of still stuffed).
What do you thicken gluten free gravy with?

I had more carbs than I usually would but I knew this would be. Turkey goes down wonderfuly so all good there. I love brining my own deserts (low sugar crustless pumpkin pie) and I continue to not test the sugar waters. I did try a 1/3 or a roll for the first time and that tiny bit was yummy. We hiked yesterday and will go on a longer hike today. It is all good!
I start a cross fit boot camp on monday for 5 weeks...time for a new physical challenge. I hope I am up for it. :)

I was doing great til we hit dessert...ate my ham first (option of ham or turkey, I chose ham). A small spoonful of dressing, some veggies and then dessert...
But I had an excellent breakfast and did well at supper too.

Fortunately, dinner was at my house and 3 out of 5 people eating have had WLS. So, I only made a ham and a SF pumpkin dessert. My friend brought sweet potatoes that she prepared with cranberries and SF Torrani brown sugar cinnamon syrup and brandied cranberries. That was it, we figured that if we didn't make a lot, we wouldn't try to eat a lot. Keeping it simple and only serving what we really like was our secret weapon.
I wanted to eat more then I did but like I said in my post it just wasn't happening. The turkey was great, very moist. My daughter in law said her secret was a Butterball turkey and lots of extra butter. I had that, some creamy cauliflower, 4 cheese cauliflower, some mashed potatoes, a taste of sugar free cranberry sauce and later about half a slice of sugar free, gluten free New York cheesecake. It sounds like a lot but in reality I only had a bite of most things except the turkey and cheesecake.
I actually was down 1/2 pound a day. Not bad for the day after Thanksgiving.
Tonight for dinner I made some steak and had some more of the 4 cheese cauliflower. Later, when I have room I will have some more of the cheesecake. I wish I could have gotten some of that turkey to take home, too. It would be great to have turkey sandwiches (with gluten free bread) for work this weekend. Oh well, I guess I have to use the deli roast beef. And some cheesecake, too.
