What do you add to your water?
So, I am on the pre-op diet, and have eliminated my life-long friend, Diet Coke. I REALLY do not like plain water (never have) so I have been adding those little flavor packets (propel, crystal lite, etc). I really like those now, but am worried that they will be too sweet after surgery. Is this something that could cause dumping? I know I may not know for sure until I try it, but I would much rather avoid puking at any cost. So, I am curious about what you guys think, and what you add or don't add to your water.
I was a diet coke addict - 2-3 or more every single day until I stopped about a month prior to surgery. Have not had one since.
I don't like plain water either unless I am very very hot. I use the Crystal Lite. I love the Lemon Tea, Blackberry Grape and the Sunrise Orange. The Blackberry Grape is actually a Great Value brand from Walmart. I like the Crystal Lite Lemon Tea better than the Walmart brand. The orange I like either one. They do not have sugar in them so you should be fine with them.
I don't know about the propel because I just use these, but as long as it does not have a lot of sugar or sugar alcohols you should be ok.
Good luck on your pre-op diet!!

I drank Diet Pepsi before surgery and at 4 years out I don't even miss it. I tried a sip a couple of times but the carbonation hurt going down and I think that was the best part before surgery...LOL. It's best not to even try it after surgery. Pepsi without a snack would be a bummer and that's one bad habit I don't want to start over.
I've never dumped on crystal lite but I have dumped on Ice tea from McDonalds. I couldn't have much artificial sweetener at a time early out. I still keep an eye on it.
I couldn't drink the cherries and grapes early out and they were my favorites before WLS. They were and still are too strong for me. More subtle tastes like peach and mango didn't seem to bother me.
I use the MIO bottles (mango peach). One squirt is plenty and it lasts FOREVER. It is so convenient and you don't have to worry about it spilling or messy powders.

I like a good squirt of fresh lime juice in my water and then sweeten to taste with Splenda or Truvia.

I dilute crystal light 1 to 1. I empty only about half of the packet in the pitcher and fill it full of water and roll down the package for another day. I also sometimes add left over Vitamin Water Zero drinks I didn't finish to make a different flavor. I also sometimes make fresh herbal tea and add to the diluted Crystal Light. I usually make the flavor even better and I have to make sure I even get some as DH will consume it all. I am now collecting Torani sugar free syrups (like the kind that go in coffee) and plan to use some of them in my Crystal Light. I have a watermelon one ordered and an almond roca. There's lots of things to do with Crystal Light or even making your own concoction.
I went through a kick where I really like mia but not so much anymore. I do the little packets and add them to a half scoop of lemon tea or carribean cooler protein and 36+ ounces of water. I do hot tea in the winter with sweetner.

I'm a sweet (splenda**** tea drinker...since decaf is the only one I can find in my brand at Sam's, I use decaf. I would use caffeinated if it was available tho.
When I want a change from sweet iced tea, I make my own lemonade using splenda. Using a cup of lemon juice added to water and 1 1/2 cups of splenda mixed in a gallon container is MUCH cheaper than the lemonade Crystal Lite.
I typically do NOT drink just regular water and the flavored waters are way too expensive long run...

I can still barely drink plain water. I drink tons of water with sugar free Wyler's Cool Raspberry, sometimes MIO Sweet Ice Tea, a lot of herbal hot tea with splenda and milk, coffee with sugar free creamer or if I have to have plain water I put some lemon and Splenda in it. I get the Wyler's at the Dollar Tree and I keep it in my purse in a little cosmetic bag so it's always handy.

I couldnt do water early out but now like it just fine. I add mio to a lot of my drinks and it is great as you can add as much as you want. I also drink powerade zero occasionally and a lot of decaf coffee. I wasnt a coffee drinker presurgery but love it now...havent had a diet coke since surgery and rarely miss it....and I was someone who always had a diet coke every morning for 20 years. You will figure it out...I did buy a lot of crystal light presurgery and wished I hadnt as I just dont like it that much!
