Sunday Weigh In

Make sure you ask all the questions you need...of whatever doctor you find and everyone who has gone before you. While each of us is unique, there is enough commonality to make sharing stories worthwhile!

I wish I could do plastics but it would all be self pay and I have 15 billions things in line ahead of that.

Wrong way again this week.

Today 129.5

Plus .5

I got back down to 128 yesterday morning so I don't know what happened yesterday.  I actually ate pretty good yesterday.

Last week: 144.8

This week: 141.8

Down 3 lbs.  My weight loss has really slowed down, as I've not had any stalls (I'll be 5 months out on the 19th) but I do this up and down thing, up and down, up and down, until I drop down.  Kind of weird but that's what happens.

I'm seeing my surgeon on 12/24 for my 6 month check-up (a month early due to insurance changes after Jan 1) and am going to talk to him about my goal.  I'm getting to be a weight where I'm pretty happy, know I need to drop a bit lower but not too much lower.  I'm thinking maybe down to 135 but am not sure.  I'm currently wearing 4 jeans  and medium tops.  I wear small scrubs at work and the pants are baggy but the length is a problem, as XS are too short.  I tried on skinny jeans that have a tiny bit of stretch in them and I fit into a size 2, which is still crazy and amazing to me.  The last size of jeans I had were 10s and I *knew* they were too big but assumed that I'd fit into an 8, nope, a 2 and 4s in regular (no stretch) jeans.

My mind still hasn't caught up with my body as while I see that I'm smaller, I definitely do not see someone who fits into 2 and 4 jeans.  Everyone keeps telling me how tiny I've gotten and it still isn't hitting me.  People at work are also acting all concerned and telling me to stop losing weight, that I'm getting too small, etc.  My friend at work said that she's had people come up to her telling her to tell me to stop.  But, she brushes them off like I do.  My surgeon told me that this would happen and he's right and I just tell them thank you for your concern.

I'm pretty happy with how I'm doing.  I had surgery right before the start of the semester and this has been the most stressful and hectic semester that I've ever had.  It has seriously been tough but I've stayed on program, haven't been tempted by things I shouldn't eat, as I don't want to go down the slippery slope of "I'll just have one bite".  I don't know if I dum*****t but don't want to find out.  I worked Thanksgiving at work, at what I could eat and not too much, didn't eat the cheesecake that I brought but had brought a pumpkin fluff that was sugar-free and something I could eat and didn't feel deprived at all.  This has been difficult with all that I have going on, but it's working and I'm changing my lifestyle and not feeling deprived at all, so it's good.

Kat, you did great.

Now, I would not purposely stop at a certain weight...let your body decide where it wants to land. We all get bounceback and once you get 18-24 months out, losing the extra 5 lbs is VERY hard!

Last week 106.2

This week 104.4

Total change -1.8

My weight is so predictable it's scary.  It doesn't seem to matter what I eat as long as it doesn't have sugar or gluten in it.  I'm still not able to eat a lot and I'm beginning to think that may be more permanent then I initially thought.  I have some days where I can eat more but not a lot.  The other day we went to a restaurant and I ordered a small portion of an omelet with sausage, Swiss cheese and hollandaise sauce.  It was the best thing I have had in a long time.  It seems like food tastes differently then I remember and It's been a while since I ate something that I really liked.  I actually ate all of it because it was so easy to go down.  I didn't eat much else but that is the first time I have finished an omelet since my surgery.

I have found myself having a harder time getting in my protein.  I always use to scoff when people said they couldn't stomach protein powders but lately no matter how much I doctor them I still have to choke them down.  I am going to order some more unflavored isolate and see if that would work better.

Tazz, being stable is good.

As far as protein powders just make sure you try different ones. I know that Vitalady has samples but vitamin Shoppe will also allow you to return powders you don't like. But it's best to find samples if possible until you find one you do like. I didn't have trouble til this spring and then my sense of smell was "monkeyed" with and most are NOT palatable to me anymore...and I use to be able to handle almost any brand.

This week 159

The loss is slowing down some, but I'm still thrilled with how this is going. I did weigh much earlier this morning than normal. I got up at 4 am so I could go with DH, he ran a 1/2 marathon today. Ironically, today is his 1 year surgiversary. He finished the race with a personal record of 1:52:15. In case you can't tell, I'm proud of him.

And happy surgiversary to him.
