Had RNY on 12/13/12. Starting weight was 218. Height is 5 5. I'm dealing with the comments about how people didn't think I'd qualify, etc... I'm tired of explaining it. Hoping to find some support here.

People often don't like to contradict a physician's opinion so I'd insert that into the equation. Something like, "After a careful review of my health issues, my doctor recommended a more permanent way to keep the weight off so that my health issues don't become even more serious and my insurance agreed so I went ahead with the surgery."

Just wait til they start telling you that you have lost too much weight and look sick.... just ignore them.

lol and it doesn't take long to hear that does it?! My mother in law told me on Christmas I look emaciated. I told her to google it and click images to see what that looks like.. my 35 inch waist in no way resembles emaciated **eye roll**

I totally know how you feel! I had the DS on 12/12/12, at 5'2 and 190lbs I just decided to not tell anyone. None of their business really!

Hi! I'm new here too. My RNY is scheduled 18 days from now. I haven't even really bothered to tell most people because I'm fairly private as it is; this is my first post in a public forum. Mostly I don't care to answer a bunch of questions about my results and progress, so I can imagine how you feel.
