High stress- no turning to food, need to cope differently

My mother is in the hospital as of yesterday.  Tests show that she had a heart attack in the last week or so.  My sister thinks it was over the weekend.  She had a triple bi pass years ago. She is very agitated and irrational.  She is 83 and had started with some mild dementia and forgetfulness the last few years.  She also is diabetic and has congestive heart failure.  I know where this path is leading and would like some advise on how to cope without stuffing my face.

Specifically what do you do for stress relief?

I may try some mild yoga, what do you think of that?

Sorry to hear about your mom.    A hot bath helps but more than anything, exercise.  It also keeps me away from food.  Also, staying busy.  I knit but whatever you can do to keep your mind occupied helps.

I do exercising and cleaning....but while I am at the hospital...I read...it isn't easy...I can relate...my Dad is in the hospital right now...I only carry "good" food with me so I am not tempted by anything else...

Sorry to hear about your Mom...

Best wishes going out to you and your dad.  I am not good at waiting so I am glad she is already in a room.  I put a cheese stick, some roasted edamame and a propel zero in my purse.  Thank you and thanks for the "good" food reminder.

Sorry about your Mom.  That would be very stressful.

I agree with exercise.  It really helps with mine.  I don't do it enough, but when I do it really makes a difference.  Even just a walk outside when you can.
