3.  What is your best advice for someone post-op?

I have roses and evening primrose blooming and my blackberries are blooming.  Honeysuckle is blooming all around us.

Pre-op, learn to not drink with meals.  De carb and de caff before surgery.

Post-op, stick to your surgeon's plan.  Find a protein you love and get your protein in even if you have to keep trying.  It is that important.

Have a great weekend.  Hope the rain moves away quickly.

Ellen-4 days post-op!
We have some really beautiful green plants and lots of trees, but not much in the way of flowers-too much for my allergies.
Pre-op advice-nothing completely compares you, but just believe your decision is right.
Post-Op- sip, walk, rest

I had several open abdominal surgeries prior to WLS so I thought I had an idea.  But I was older, it was lap instead of open, etc, etc.  I think you can just do your best and believe.

Glad you are doing well.

Hi Price!

Nothing blooming in my yard.  I have some iris' on the side of the house that are thinking about it.  Still a lilttle early here for roses blooming.

Pre-op:  I agree.  Learn to NOT drink with your meals.  I'm finding that extremely difficult now 4+ years out to do.  I was diligent about it then... not so much now, but am very congnizant of it.

Post-op:  Don't drink with your meals - LOL.  Stick to your plan, exercise, don't think your malabsorption (if you have that type of surgery) is going to keep you from regain in the future.  Stay diligent with your vitamins - those you WILL continue to malaborb.

Don't buy too many clothes as you will continue to lose.  Find a good thrift store, Goodwill or Salvation army and find some very good buys there!

Morning Price,

I've got petunias and peonies blooming on my balcony. They are lovely.

Both pre and post op - journal - I wish I had captured all my thoughts so that I could reflect on how far I've come years later.

I tracked my weight and inches on the tracker on this site.  It is fun to go back and see where I was.  I didn't track emotions, clothes sizes, that kind of thing and that would be helpful too.

1.  What is blooming in your yard / area these days?

Trees, weeds, and POISON IVY! Not bothering with this disaster of a yard since it's only ours for another 2 months.

2.  What is your best advice for someone pre-op?

Knowledge! Read everything you can find on ALL your options...don't assume the surgeon closest to you is giving you info in your best interest. We interview electricians, plumbers, etc...why not interview your surgeon? After all they are working for us...not the other way around.

3.  What is your best advice for someone post-op?

Stay hydrated and get in your protein...and GET RID of the scale.

Plenty of time to have blooming things next year.  Knowledge is great advice.  So many folks seem to not really understand and some Drs do a much better job than others explaining the process and changes you will go through.
