I guess ( years later ) I'm hard headed
I'm finally willing to admit that excess carbs are bad for us . ( and I truly tried to get away with consuming them)
that said I haven't given up on making the organic vegan lifestyle and bariatric surgery work together.
It also does not escape me that I look way better eight years post op than almost all of my surgery peers on here ... so I must be doing ( -a lot ) right
Just sip as much as you can while awake. It will get easier. Noisy insides are to be expected for a while.

I came home today. I did very well in the hospital and the incision pain is very manageable. I'm on full liquids and I cannot even begin to take in what they've asked of me. I sip. If I sip two in a row I get cramps and a big gas bubble wants to come up. Lots of gurgling noises in my stomach and intestines! Noisy!! Water seems to go down ok but i can't go fast, for sure. The stuff with more substance seems to make me crampy. Am I going too fast?

Um, Roz?? It's Wednesday today! LOL
Good morning Gang!
Had a great workout last night. Amazing how much quicker I get it done when my friend isn't at the gym!! Today is running at lunch and then a break from the gym tonight.

S - 2 melba toast w. 21 gr peanut butter

Have a good Wednesday, almost half way there!
WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.
Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.
I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!
Good Morning!! What in the world was wrong with our site yesterday??? It was so frustrating not to be able to get on and post. I'm not seeing any changes!

There's been quite a few posters over my 8+ years of posting that have kept it quiet except for immediately family. I told my DH (Darling Hubby) right away and told my DD's (Darling Daughters) during my 6 month prep.
I told my Mom/brother/sister the week of and my brother of course knew people who had it and failed. After I lost around 40 pounds other people actually thought I was sick and were concerned so I did share with a few of them.
Do whats best for you! It can be pretty upsetting hearing others opinions and horror stories of failed WLS.
My husband and I have decided to keep it to ourselves. We have a teen daughter and son, and we don't want to involve them in it. I really don't want the extended family to know - especially my inlaws - so we feel that we don't want our children to feel like they are having to keep a secret. Its better that they just don't know for now. I will most likely tell them when they are adults.
I just want to be prepared for questions that the nosy-news will have. I'm getting some great advice so far. This board is awesome!!!
p.s. Roz, you and I have a lot of the same stats. Same height, and very similar beginning weight - I would be over-the-moon if my 'after' weight is like yours too! Thanks for the inspiration

I kept my surgery mostly private. I only told my, daughters and sisters while I was pre-op. I told my son the week before surgery and I told my nieces after surgery. I haven't told anyone outside family, and I've asked them to keep it to themselves.
I feel like, this is just as private as any other medical issue I might have. I wouldn't publicize anything else in my medical history, so this should remain private as well.
I'm not ashamed or embarrassed, I'm just a very private person.
If anyone asks why I am so suddenly thin, I say that I worked with my doctor to get to the healthiest weight possible and that I'm feeling better than I have in many years. Most people just drop it right there. If they ask for details, I ate a protein forward meal plan with limited carbs and calories. (All true)
perfect, thanks!
