Liz, you should update your "after" photo with one of you at your current weight! I'd love to see the difference 15 lbs makes at 130.

I'm still over a month out and I CAN NOT WAIT to get this ball rolling.

Topic: RE: Weight loss rate

In the beginning it was hard to get any food in.  I ate a lot of cheese spread on Saltines, soups, etc.  I averaged around 400-500 at the beginning, increased (with Protein) to about 700 around month 4 and then upped my Protein drinks at month 8 after I was at "my" desired goal weight and then I started losing again.

I never upped my calories with food unless it was Protein.

I never exercised.  We've had a lot of posters who went crazy with exercising and then when they got to goal and quit exercising they started gaining their weight back.  If you exercise it has to be something you plan on doing for the rest of your life.

When you are at a stall and increase your calories with Protein and then drop back down you can jump start your weight loss again but if you continue at the higher number chances are you will slow done your normal weight loss.

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!!  It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Topic: RE: What finally made up your mind?

Hello! I've been here for a while now asking which surgery? 8 years ago my grand daughter and I were dancing around. She giggled and said to me "YOU LOOK LIKE BARNEY" the purple dinosaur. I was crushed and had lap band surgery. Ended up with all the complications and had it removed 2.5 years ago. After on again off again deciding about surgery again, I've started to attend the WLS support group meetings again. Due to my long time diabetes, I'm still deciding on which surgery. Although I know that RNY would be the better choice, I really want to have the sleeve and use that tool to put my diabetes into remission for good. Another reason I want it is b/c 3 weeks ago, I developed sciatica pain in my hip/leg and was put on prednisone for a week. It feels much better but not gone.

I had been thinking I was too thin when I dropped to the weight I am currently at (between 115-116), as the thinnest I had ever been as an adult was about 122-123. I did have to bring my calories up more than I thought I would have to to stop losing.  I have been hovering here for about 2 months and am realizing that I'm not really too thin as my ribs are still covered with some padding (not sticking out).  I think I just hadn't seen myself this thin before. Though I don't want to go lower I have decided not to try gaining intentionally and my surgeon agrees with that. If my weight goes up some that's fine as long as I don't exceed 125 which is the upper limit I've set for myself.  So if I get the bounce back Roz was warning I should be okay.

I feel like ours live here.....LOL.  BUT I wouldn't have it any other way!!!   Since DH retired he watches the grandkids a lot. By the time I get home he is worn out and it's my turn.

Most of our grocery order is junk food for the kids and DH.  Sometimes I feel like I'm teaching them bad habits.

Sounds like a Successful Menu!

Welcome to our LW Board!!

I think getting to thin is in the eyes of your family and friends.  I think every one of us who have been successful getting to a Normal BMI have been told we have lost to much and that we are getting to thin or sickly looking.   Being a LW and reaching goal happens quicker and they aren't use to seeing us thin.

Your body will know when to stop.  15 pound Bounce back is not a myth it is for real. If you stop to soon the bounce back and the scales will settle above the number you have in mind.
