I don't have any great tips for you other than DON'T PANIC!!!!  I tried the Biotin for awhile but I quickly noticed extra hair on my face which for me was dramatizing because I've always had to deal with facial hair so I stopped taking.

I actually started looking at wigs but I never needed one. When it started growing back in it came in thicker and with some body.  DH still cleans hair out of the drain but it's thick enough to handle it.

Being in my 50's when I had surgery I started coloring it a darker shade and that helped with the look too.

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!!  It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Morning LW'S!!!!!  WOW...January is flying by.  I'm really bummed over  the price of my Protein going up!!!  The last ones I bought were $38.50 each and they raised  them to $54.50.  That's a HUGE increase!!!!   DH has been a little depressed and I was worried about how he was going to do his first winter of retirement.  Next month he turns 65 so we are going to get him signed up for Silver Sneakers and DD#3 is going to go with him to the gym.  Everyone keeps telling me I need to retire but I love my job way to much and I KNOW I couldn't deal being home every day.

Congrats on researching and learning about the VSG.  Good luck on your journey!

Thanks Jody, I quess that's what I was expecting to hear. I know you can't spot reduce and I'm hoping to have PS too! at least on my belly area. I attended a support group meeting today, and came away with some important information. Thanks again

I started using biotin/collagen shampoo and taking extra biotin 6 months pre-op. Like clockwork at the end of my 3rd month post-p I started losing hair by the handful. After 2 months the hair loss inexplicably stopped. I seriously doubt anything I did would have changed anything!

Mine started falling out around month 6.  Some folks' did sooner - some didn't at all.  I don't really know if there is anything you can do to stop it... It does lessen as you become further out from surgery.  Some folks cut their hair short so it wasn't as noticeable... I have always had thick hair so when I lost mine it wasn't noticeable.

Some folks take Biotin but found hair growing in places they didn't want it to grow ;)

There are several theories out there on why your hair falls out.... some say the aftereffects of anesthesia (I don't buy that one mainly because I've had a LOT of surgeries over the years and never had it fall out before).  Could be the rapid weight loss.... could be a deficiency in the diet, etc.

Good luck and hopefully it will slow down soon!!
