Topic: 24 days post op

So far all is well.  After about a week things really started getting easier for me.  I have no problem with getting my liquids in.  I do still have to rely on a 20 gram protein shake in order to get my daily protein in.  Some days may be a bit difficult in accomplishing 800 calories, but I feel great.  My energy is almost back to normal.  I plan to start back Crossfit in about a month.

But I have decided not to use the scale until I see my nutritionist on the 12th.   I feel thinner and my clothes validate that I am losing, but I have not really lost pounds since the week of the surgery.  I walk 30 minutes briskly each morning.  I think my body is in starvation mode and trying to hold on to all that fat for dear life.  So I find the scales really disheartening right now.

I have slowly informed some special people in my life of the surgery. They have been most supportive.

If any of you have words of encouragement or stories of your initial weight loss/stall, please share.  I am going to beat this!!

Thanks,

lkc

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!!  It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them! LW's!!!

WOW...another Wonderful Christmas at the Watterson house!  As the kids get older the gift lists changed to Clothes, Makeup, bedroom decorations, etc. and the younger ones were so excited the paper was just flying everywhere....lol.  My DD's helped Dad/Pappy prepare breakfast this year so I had a few minutes to sit back and just enjoy the smiles and chatter before the "opening" of presents. They even cleaned up all of the dishes......  Not cooking really helped me stay away from the carby pancakes and waffles.  In fact I don't remember eating anything. Yesterday we went to our annual Harlem Globetrotter "game".  We had floor seats this year and the Globetrotters took a liking to our grandsons and their basketball skills.  There are some videos on my facebook.

Good for you.  I haven't done well this Christmas season as far as food.  I made too many treats and consumed way too much.

I'm ready to get back to healthy eating.

Hi from NH

I'm not an expert but diet pills can't be good for you! I'm 52 and portion control is my issue. My husband weighs 185 and I am now 215 after losing my pre-op weight. Surgery will be in 1/17.My BMI was under 40 but I have Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and, because of the pre-op testing, now know I have sleep apnea. I snore but never thought I had it. Plus, I hate the c-pap machine so that's another plus for having the VSG surgery.

Go get tested at a sleep center. Then, have your blood work done again.  Maybe something has changed.  You never know.

Good luck to you.

That's so wonderful! I haven't had surgery yet but it's nice to hear that others can actually get back on track after losing focus on their weight. which surgery did you have?
