WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

I haven't posted this is quite some time but thought I'd take us back to some of our roots.

The Lightweight Creed
(Created and approved by members of the OH Lightweights Forum, Jan 2008)

I am a Lightweight. I am only one of many others like me. Together, we are a team. Though our journeys and choices may be different, we are bonded together by the commonality of being Lightweights and the strategies, successes and struggles that entails. It is this bond that defines this board.

I began my journey with a BMI of less than 45 and/or with less than 150 lbs excess weight. My lower BMI and excess weight does in no way make me less deserving of medical intervention, and I should not be made to feel inferior or guilty.

I qualified for WLS because I have co-morbidities, or because my medical history proves that my weight is diet and exercise resistant.

I have worked with my healthcare team to determine the best surgical option for me. I am confident that others have done so as well, so I will refrain from passing judgments.

I will freely share the most accurate information I have, as well as my own personal journey and why I chose my surgery in an informative, educational and respectful way so that others may learn from my experiences.

I respect the decisions of my fellow Lightweights, regardless of the surgery they chose and the nutritional/exercise plans they follow.

I will always promote health and a healthy lifestyle, whether physical or mental; and will respect alternate methods and views toward achieving good health, even if I do not espouse them personally.

I will always be sensitive, honest and respectful when contributing to discussions on this board and in my PMs. I will never flame, demean, invalidate or harass others for their questions or decisions. I will remember, at all times, the difficulties and pain I went through on my own journey and be considerate of others when discussing theirs.

I will always defend and unite with my fellow Lightweights against prejudice and hostility.

I understand it is my responsibility to report offensive conduct to my fellow Lightweights, so that we may deal with offending parties as a united front to preserve the supportive and tolerant atmosphere of our board.

I understand that if my conduct becomes offensive, I will not be welcome to participate on this board any longer.

Post Op RNY 16+ mos

Good morning. Did 5 km at the gym this morning and off to work. Hope it doesn't rain this aft so I can go out at lunch. My mother told me last night that I was too skinny, I told her I'm not, its just that she was used to me being fat. She told me that recent pics on FB don't even look like me and that she liked fat me better. Really something nice to say to someone who works so hard. Went to my Trucker for a little support, and he had nothing, add him to the list of people that pissed me off yesterday. I actually dove into a bowl of chips and dip after these two conversations for about 2 mins, and then realized it doesn't matter what they think (took some of my own advice). Hence the 5km at the gym, I was actually going to have a rest day but screw them.

Anyway, here's the plan for today:

B1 - 1/2 small banana

B2 - beef meatballs

S - 2 HB eggs

L - chicken salad

S - sautéed peppers/onions with chicken and cheese

D - taco salad

Total Cal 1164, Carbs 40, Protein 101

Have a good day all!

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!

Hi Roz!

Time sure is flying by faster every year it seems!

It's been over 7 years! Cant believe it! Doing great! Regain is real, refined carbs are the devil! You speak the truth! Still lurking, dont post as much as I used too.

Type 2 diabetes still in remission! Yeah!!

Let life get in my way and an excuse to eat my emotions, gained up to 164 this year. Down to 147.

To get back on track, I just really needed to get back to basics, I know it sounds cliche. I never really drank with meals, but was not drinking enough at all during the day. So really increased my water intake. Was eating too many refined carbs. Now its protein first, veggies and low glycemic index fruit and berries. Plus I have logged my food in for the past +70 days on my fitness pal.

Some days are better than others, but hey, I am human, and this is for the rest of my life.

B protein coffee, every day for the past 7 years!

2nd breakfast cream cheese pancakes with some blueberries and whipped cream

L chicken thigh and some cole slaw

D grilled chicken breast, guacamole over a small bed of romaine, guinness

liquids 64 oz

Vitamins, done

miles, none yet. Too rainy, even the dogs dont want to go out! lol

Welcome to our Lightweight Board!!! In one way it is harder over 50 because I'm not as active as I use to be but I watch my daughters with their young children and I remember how hard it was having so much junk food in the cupboards and doing drive through restaurants on activity days.

So you are 5 years out from revision or your original Surgery? What surgery did you have? You've down a great job!

I don't have a fitbit but thanks for inviting me!

I wish I could eat the Greek Yogurt. It upsets my stomach so much. Maybe I need to find something similar that's lactose free.

Summers almost over and I haven't even had a fresh tomato yet.

Sounds Good!

OK...the year is going way to fast!! I can't seem to remember that it's September. 9 years ago I was anticipating my RNY and was worrying about life after WLS. Our LW board was booming with posters back then. I wish a few of them would stop in and say HI and let us know if they have continued being successful or let us help them get back on track.

Glad to have found this board. You're so right about staying away from bad carbs. My sweet tooth can get the better of me if I let it. I'm lucky that I have willpower too though. Coming from a size 24 to a zero, I know I never want to go back, and everything is so much harder after 50.

About a month ago, I was just getting back into an exercise routine after an extended illness when our air quality took a nosedive and I haven't been able to get outside to run or walk in over a week. Just like that I gained 5% of my body weight and it's all flabby FAT! Mostly around my waist. I can't wait to get back outside and walk but the smoke burns my eyes and throat.

I use fitbit to track my exercise/weigh****er/food. PM me if you want to connect on fitbit!
